Pros It does basic stuff just fine.
Cons Installation, Serious EAX problems, Drivers, Support.
Summary Building brand new system. All top notch. New OS. While installing SB card, it crashed repeatedly, wouldn't load drivers. Finally succeded, but no EAX Special Game Effects. Gave up- later--- Un/Reloaded software multiple times. Finally got it in. Looked for it sometime later-gone.????? Forget about it. Don't really need it. BUT...Now can't update to latest driver from Creative. Card is less than 1 year old.
BEWARE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Problems from the start !! And oh, about that non-existant tech support? That IS the way it is. It's useless.
Pros great qualtiy and internal drive is nice
Cons lack of support
Summary Never buy this card. Save yourself the frustration. The software sucks. It tells me the following: "Unhandled Exception unable to invoke subscribers, setup will now terminate," whenever I try to uninstall their terrible software. Then to make things even 'better' the loser tech support guys tell me to reinstall windows for their application. Then I ask myself wait; these guys developed the software or did they type some random code and hope for the best. The guys have no clue what they are doing. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that he will call me the latest within 2 days. Why so long? Manager is getting a neck rub or something? Now they are offering a $100 rebate on this crap ooops I ment card. Believe me I am a pro, I know what I'm saying.
DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR BS.
Pros Excellent audio fidelity. Support for DTS is a plus. Stable drivers
Cons The X-Fi series may be a better buy.
Summary Despite being released two years ago the Audigy 2ZS Platinum is still one of the best sound cards around. The audio fidelity is incredible and nearly distortion free at high volumes. Games sound more realistic thanks to the dedicated EMU10K2 DSP. Music and movies have to be heard to be believed: the results are more obvious when paired up with a 5.1 speaker system.
While some buyers have complained about the drivers I haven't experienced any problems with them at all. Under Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 the sound card is extremely stable.
Although the X-Fi series is now available this card remains a good buy. It is still available from many online resellers and would make a fine replacement for onboard audio solutions.
Pros It has audio inputs for my digital cable
Cons It doesn't work, and tech support is as bad as it can get
Summary The software didn't install without errors fresh from the box. First level tech support didn't even know there was a demo DVD that shipped with the product and kept telling me they don't play DVDs. Second tier tech support suggested reinstalling WinXP, that’s only two weeks worth the work. Since I didn't want to do that – they suggested I find another PC to corrupt with their software.
I don't mind spending the money to buy high end products, I do mind when the basic installation is flawed and generates error messages and the product doesn't work. There is no excuse for tech support to be ignorant about their product line, and it is inexcusable for tech support to use a shotgun approach to fault isolation.
This was my first, and last purchase of a Creative Labs product.
Pros I have been using this card for over 3 years now and I am really loving it. I am using a pair of JBL E100 speakers with a Yamaha equalizer and a Sony receiver and nothing comes close to these.
Cons None. If you don't get the correct sound then you are using the wrong speakers.
