"Echo Indigo IO is way more better than this card"

by audiomaniac on July 8, 2005

Pros: Direct 5.1 Surround connection ability.

Cons: Sound quality far inferior to Echo Indigo IO

Summary: I basically listen with a headphone from my Laptop. I use a Grado SR325i and though not quite satisfied, I was happy with my Creative ZS >> Until I heard the Echo Indigo from my friend.

The difference is not subtle at all. Its in fact so much pronounced that even a half deff guy could say the difference. With Echo Indigo, you get pristine clarity in the higher frequencies (crystal clear treble), accurate and eye-blinking Bass and most importantly, a much greater depth to the music. I was literally astounded with the difference, never thought that the laptop could sound so good..

This could possibly be because the Echo Indigo has a built in DSP processor along with an extremely superior quality Headphone Amp that really exemplifies and spatially separates the vocals from the guitars from the drums etc. On the creative, the sound is just flat and really muddy when compared to the Echo Indigo IO.

All said, the Echo Indigo is more expensive than Creative, but I still strongly and wholeheartedly recommend it over Creative ZS.

As for me, I received my Echo Indigo IO a week back and my Creative ZS Notebook is up for sale on EBay :) :) :) :)

to someone who is, as indicated by the ten spelling, usage, and stylistic mistakes in your comment, apparently nearly illiterate?

Shoulda stuck to just *one* shill review instead of two, but you had to get greedy. Now, what are the chances of TWO folks being readers of Cnet reviews, listen to grado headphones on their pc, and appear to be closely related by their style, experience, and perspective. Probably easier to find folks with two DNAs [but at least POSSIBLE, look up "Kimera's Syndrome"]!

If you want people to value your opinion, use proper grammar.. "way more better"? Besides that, the Echo Indigo is for music explicitly, whereas the Creative ZS is more of an all-around performer (gaming, 7.1 surround, dvd's, music). However, I doubt very seriously that anyone (with the exception of yourself) would say that the quality of sound produced by the Creative card was mediocre in comparison, much less "just flat and really muddy". Please be more accurate in your future reviews.

I can't help but wonder how much stock you own in the "other" company. Perhaps you are an employee? The Audigy 2 ZS card is half the price and it has optical inputs and outputs that the "other" card lacks.

What do you want for under $100? Ever magazine that has tested the Audigy 2 ZS has loved it. So do I.
