Summary: I originally had used this card on my desktop running Windows XP SP2 and 3 and Sonar 7 Producer Edition. For the first couple months, the LT delivered great performance and people were impressed with the quality I could deliver out of such a cheap card. As time moves on, I got pretty comfortable with the digital mixer and internal routing, and then I brought my band in to record a few songs. From that point forward, the card continually left audible artifacts in the audio files. I believe it was result of jitter, which meant the audio card wasn't in sync with my processor for sampling. I tried to fix this by adjusting settings in Sonar as well as reinstalling the drivers multiple times. Nothing worked. At this point, I packed away the computer and moved into a professional studio to work.
A year and a half later, I have decided to set up a small home studio for composition and demo work at my home. I am using the same desktop with the 1010LT installed and Pro Tools 9. Since I have the newest version of Pro Tools, I needed Windows 7 to run it, so I formatted my hard drive and started over with my computer. This time around, I also noticed that M-Audio finally decided to release 32-bit driver upgrades for the 1010LT and Windows 7.
I have done a good amount of work on this small setup since I have started using it about one month ago, and I have yet to have any problems with it. Pro Tools 9 is nice, because this sound card is considered Digidesign certified hardware for Pro Tools 8 M-Powered and 9, so I should expect no hiccups whatsoever for the rest of my time with the card. I am extremely pleased with the ease-ability of this card now that it runs smoothly once again. In fact, some bands I bring back to my little studio to do pre-production and editing work, because it is easier than setting up a whole studio, and I'm confident that the Delta 1010LT will not underperform during my sessions.
