"Great product!! Well done Altec!" on by DWB959
Pros: Sound, portability, design,
Cons: Can't charge non-ipod MP3's, not a universal remote
Summary: After purchasing the Creative Sounddock for my Zen Microphoto and being frustrated by the lack of sound and function of that system I went to Altec. Although there's not a dedicated line for charging a non-Ipod MP3 player the rest of the system works great. Sound is awesome for all types of music from Andre Boccelli to Eminem and everything in between. It doesn't substitue for your home stereo but does do a great job for it's size and gives you a chance to ditch the headphones and the pulling out of your ears when the phone rings or someone walks in.
Purchase this with confidence as the sound is great and you can't beat the price!

"perfect for what it was designed for" on by ben_mrben
Pros: Sounds crisp, pleasantly bassy and room filling.....
Cons: Not really a Con, but battery operation would be nice
Summary: I got this unit (Altec Lansing M602) a few weeks ago and I must say I'm very pleased with it. The sound is crisp, pleasantly bassy and room filling. This unit is not designed to replace your home stereo unit but is excellent for what it was designed for.

"good sound quality at a good price" on by gregdesmidt
Pros: good remote control and decent sound
Cons: distorts at high volumes
Summary: I was very pleased with the styling and functionality of this product. I was a little disappointed by the distortion at high volumes. I have a cheaper pair of Cyber Acoustic iRhythm A303 speakers that actually sound better. I bought the M602 on sale at TESCO for £100, so a great buy considering the BOSE sounddock is £250 and never seems to go on sale. There are so many conflicting reports about docking speakers that it is hard to know who to listen to or trust. My advice is to trust your own ears!

"Clearly superior to the BOSE SoundDock & others" on by westernsun
Pros: the best sound, clear, crisp
Cons: as all of these units, the stereo separation is poor...
Summary: Where BOSE failed miserably with their Sound Dock, Altec Lansing has created a properly designed unit, lifted off the table a bit, and with the necessary jacks and bass/treble controls. All in all, the best buy out there!

"STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING ALTEC LANSING MAKES!!" on by handyandy2112
Pros: Not a freaking thing.
Cons: Had the piece of junk for 18 months. It developed a periodic pop with a stoppage in music. See further comments below.
Summary: Spend your money elsewhere, maybe with a company that makes a quality product and values your business. I had this piece of junk for 18 months, using it very little (in the bedroom-TV's usually on). It developed a periodic pop with a stoppage in music, same as another reviewer reported. Eventually the problem got faster and faster so that now it pops every 2 seconds. I contacted Altec Lansing about it, figuring that they would take into consideration the fact that it's only a year and a half old. I even asked if they would look at it and give me a repair estimate if replacement was not an option. No sir. Altec Lansing cares about one thing-your money. Once they have it, that's where the service ends. I will NEVER buy a product from that company again and I strongly caution others not to either.
