"Might as Well Try Something New"
Pros: Nothing at All: Especially not the new file menu and perplexing new user interface
Cons: 2007 completely changes the interface with very few improvements to core power of the application, for a net drag on productivity. It's a kick in the face to loyal customers who upgraded on faith that the new product would be better.
Summary: Excel used to be a beautiful, time saving program. Everyone I know who performs analysis for a living loved the "classic" versions of it. However, for some reason - certainly not to sell more licenses- Microsoft changed the interface completely. The changes are awful, and there is no way to view the "classic" interface. This affects numerous key strokes and is surely forcing thousands of heavy users to start from scratch and stay deeper into the early morning crunching numbers. Honestly, it is as if Microsoft never watched anyone use its flagship product. If you ever thought switching from a PC to a Mac would slow your Excel skills, switching from 03 to 07 is ten times worse than getting used to the apple button.
