"The New interface is a disaster"
Pros: None as far as I can see
Cons: Nearly UNUSABLE
Summary: I have used Excel since 1989. I ran Multiplan and Visicalc in the early 1980's, and had a short fling with Lotus 1-2-3. Like many others, I have used Office 2003 for the past four years.
I just bought a refurbished HP laptop running a trial version of Office 2007.
Who allowed these modules to be released with such radical changes in functionality?
What a colossal blunder.
Using Excel 2003 is a breeze. Ditto for Word.
Excel 2007 is junk. What a stupid interface - designed to IMMEDIATELY slow down even a long-time Office user. Breath-takingly idiotic. The way MS moved things around in such a radical manner in Excel 2007 and Word 2007 makes no sense.
Right after I post this flame I am going to look for a way to customize these two apps so that they will cater to users who prefer the 2003 workflow.
Whoever authorized these Office 2007 apps to be released in their current form is sorely lacking in judgment.
If this suite of "tools" can't be customized to accomodate users who do not want to start from scratch and learn an entirely new interface, I will defintely not purchase the license. I would rather move to an Open Document approach.
