The Handy Steno comes with Flash Disk Utility, a simple app that lets you encrypt, decrypt, and compress your files on a PC before you load them onto the drive. The CD also contains a user manual and driver software for Windows 98 users. When you plug in the drive, an orange LED near the back flashes once to confirm the connection; this same light flashes during file transfers. The Apacer Handy Steno is available in capacities ranging from 32MB to 1GB, and the 256MB model we tested costs about $60, or 23 cents per megabyte, making the Handy Steno an excellent value.

Have loved this drive!
Pros: Rugged, larger than average size and cable loop has makes this drive hard to lose, easy to attach to bags and whatnot and I don't lose the cap! This provides function to simplification in design but not oversimplification.
Cons: I wish there was a larger, more modern capacity version and that their products were more widely available. The drive is maxed out.

Indestructible: the Superman of Flash Drives.
Pros: I owned an older version of the Apacer handy steno and this thing just wouldn't die. It went through the washer and dryer 9 times and still worked. This newer model has also had a taste of the spin cycle and has proven to be just as durable
Cons: Sure the steel cable can be a little annoying, but unless you have an angry girlfriend after you with a pair of *****, then you are not going to lose that friggin' cap.

Avoid this brand
Pros: Convenient cap on a leash, but I wanted a memory device more.
Cons: It is unreliable. Plugs in, comes up quickly but hangs afterwards. Have to re-plug it. Repeat about 10 times to get everything in. Then some files copy ok, but disappears later. No choice, it was corporate purchase item. Never dropped it, always "safely r

very handy
Pros: CNET calls the permanent cap a 'slight impediment' but I think it's one of the best things about it! I travel a lot, so the cap keeps it clean and doesn't get lost. I've had mine for about a year now and have had no problems. Very handy
Cons: none

Great Drive and Great Price
Pros: Got 256mb on sale for 25.00 .Slim, so its easy to fit on usb ports on back of PC.So far have had no problems what so ever.
Cons: Steel cable attached to cap, great idea but gets annoying after a while. Would have liked Apacer to have made the cable removeable, so the owner could take off or put on the cable if they so choose to.Aside from this its still a good drive.

Was astounded at first, but...
Pros: This drive is great! Initially, it was quite reliable and durable. I love the fact that you can't lose the cap. It's not an impediment for me since you can pull it pack so that it does obstruct you as much. what's a teensy bit of discomfort against su
Cons: My drive started to fail 2 months after purchase. It suddenly went blank on me and had to reformat it. It behaved sporadically on me since then. I tried copying a big file into it. I compared the two files OK and tried to DC it after the copy and comp
