I have been searching for a sub that can transfer sound that an audiophile would appreciate. The Audioengine S8 meets this objective superbly. The unit is well built and contains all the cables that you need including a 1/8" mini-jack audio cable and RCA audio cable, both approx. 6.5 feet each. I connected the S8 via Apple's AirPort Express wi-fi device. In my installation, I am also using my in-wall speakers that are wired to my receiver.
The Airport Express conveniently connects to the built-in AC Outlet on the rear panel. The S8 is powered and features versatile controls like phase (0 to 180), crossover (50 Hz to 130 Hz) and volume. Additionally, there are RCA input and outputs as well as an 1/8" input mini-jack that is used to connect to a wireless device such as the Airport Express.
Audioengine also sells a wireless sender and receiver (W1), if you prefer to bypass your network to wirelessly connect the S8. After making final adjustments to phase, crossover and volume, I was completely awestruck with the final sound. This sub is the most amazing product of its type.
