This thing is downright impressive. I'm not sure if it's a con but I'm almost certain one could hurt themselves and other objects that aren't bolted down if not careful. I don't have equipment to measure the frequency response but this thing will go lower without much effort than other subs I've heard. This is integrated into my home theater setup and will easily shake the home and the gain is at/around significantly less than 1/4 and -3db on the receiver. Turn it up a few dB's to -1 and it makes movies all the more impressive. When watching Saving Private Ryan it had myself and others running for cover. When really flexing the sub I've had it putting out 110db of SPL without effort shaking everything in the house and hitting me in the chest. It seems to be a bit much for music since my towers are full range and produce their own bass so it only gets used for movie watching. It sits against an interior wall with no insulation and on the opposite side is my bathroom which I'm constantly having to replace light bulbs in. If you like bass and are like me with the mentality of if its worth doing its worth over doing this is the sub for you!!! The neat thing is the beast can be civilized as well. When well blended into the system it is hardly noticeable except for the deep bass being produced and while not quite as musical as a smaller sub it is surprisingly articulate for a 14" without the slightest hint of boom or muddiness. No single component in my system has been able to put such a big grin on my face as this one. If you don't mind spending close to $2000 on a single sub this one will certainly not disappoint.
