"Outstanding value and performance" on by TheHorsts
Pros: Great value in a relatively compact enclosure
Cons: Not able to produce the lowest notes in the largest rooms
Summary: We now own 2 of these. Originally purchased it for a home theater setup in the master bedroom. So completely impressed by its performance, we purchased a 2nd one for the family room.
Was considering their larger, more powerful STF-2 for the family room, but it turned out to be a bit too large to just hide out of sight. The STF-1 was so compact, it fit in behind my main speakers (PSB 4T's) and REALLY rounded out the low end.
Not rated for the lowest notes, but it seems to exceed its ratings. We were instantly experiencing "new lows" in movies such as Finding Nemo, Pirates, and everything else we watched. Also sounds GREAT with music.
At just $300, it's easily the best bargin in subwoofers. It's a "10" at this price point. -
"None better at this price" on by spiffnme
Pros: Clean, tight bass
Cons: none at this price range
Summary: For a small room, gaming, or bedroom setup, this is the sub for you. Hsu subwoofers are known for their clean, tight, distortion free bass, and this model is no different. Can you over push it? Yes, of course you can, it's not designed for 100+ db output levels in large rooms. Use it for what it was designed for, and you won't find a better sub.

"Best Value in a subwoofer" on
Pros: Great accurate bass. Can not be beat for cost.
Cons: Not sure about the poster that said his broke twice in 2 years. The STF series of subwoofers has not been out for even a full year....and they come with a two year warranty.

"Excellent Subwoofer" on
Pros: I really like the punch and quick response - I actually have the STF-2. A previous poster said his broke twice and that's not good, but mine has been perfect so far. Connected to Hsu's VT-12 surround system. Fantastic movie sound.
Cons: Big black box. Oh well, it is a subwoofer.
