Pros High quality sound, great power, excellent cabinetry finish and good customer service support.
Cons No downside so far.
Summary My version of Outlaw's subwoofer is the LFM-1 Compact with a 10" driver.
Felt uneasy about ordering from a web-based company, as I could not touch and feel ... and hear. Took a leap of faith based on the reviews as well as Outlaw's shipping and return policy.
This unit does not diasppoint. First, Outlaw processed my order efficiently. The unit arrived wrapped in a felt bag within a virtually indestructible box.
Set-up was easy. And the high quality cabinetry is pleasing.
The cound is amazing. Playing an action movie at mid-volume, this sub shakes the couch! Powerfull sound (you can almost see the air moving towards you) and clean - not booming or popping. Call of Duty on the X-Box with was a lot of fun for the household's teen boy and his friends on game night. While the loud is amazing, so is the subtelty of the crossover between the sub and the front speakers for normal soundtracks at normal volumes.
The only small hitch was that the unit was not shipped with the disks that provide support for the carpet spikes in the case of a bare floor installation. Customer service responded promptly and even included a promo item for my troubles.
High marks for Outlaw's LFM-1 sub.
Pros cost-performance ratio, build quality, handsome looks that aren't overstated
Cons Does not have any
Summary The Outlaw Audio LFM-1 is absolutely an amazing bass machine. This subwoofer produces deep, tight bass that I can certainly feel. The subwoofer rattles things all over in my room. It does an excellent job on movies and music. It is extremely well built all the way down to the the feet that virtually glide into their preset holes with ease. The unit does an excellent job of recreating the sound and feel of bass from a good theater, if not exceeding it easily. The Outlaw is heavy at 70 pounds, although for the size and price, this is perfectly normal. The Outlaw plays bass at the best level possible, even on DVDs that might not have the best sound mix or budget to them. I am VERY pleased with the Outlaw LFM-1.
Pros Anyone who thinks this sub doesn't go low enough probabaly enjoys subs that eek out 20Hz at the expense of the rest of the frequency response. The Outlaw is tuned for 25Hz (where 98% of the subwoofer content stays at or above) and does it well and without
Cons Get a larger sub (or two of these) if your room is over 3000 cubic feet in size and you want to achieve louder reference levels.
Pros - Tremendous value
- Great performance
- Port tuned for stunning frequency response (as low as 16Hz on the EX model)
- Excellent finish
- Quality product from Outlaw Audio
Cons It's big and heavy; but if you want a real sub most of them are. It's well built and clean with an excellent top so at least it has that going for it. Me, I don't mind one bit that it's large and in charge.
Summary I own another Outlaw Subwoofer, the LFM-1 Compact 10", for a staggered setup. The result is exquisite bass that must be demo'd to be appreciated. I also use Outlaw Amplifiers. They are an excellent company that provides a 30 day trial of the product not that I've ever been disappointed and wanted to return anything they shipped me.
I've been purchasing good from OA since 2004 and just recently purchased again and picked up the wonderful Velodyne SMS-1 and Final Sound Subwoofer deal! $50 each for a power sub when you purchase a SMS-1. Not a bad deal at all and I can give the Final Sound subs away if they don't perform well in our other HT setup. If you are building a system check it out! Outlaw Audio simply rocks!
Pros back when i was living in residence, this sub could shake the whole building (200 people lived there). The depth and the bass response even in the inaudible range (you only feel it but can't hear) is mind blowing. Best subwoofer, can't beat the price
Cons Big and heavy, which comes with the territory for a subwoofer of this quality and caliber- it will shake everything.
Summary You will hear bass notes that you have never even heard or felt before with this sub. Worth every penny! It will give you the IMAX sound experience in your own room. Bass lovers, there is no need to look elsewhere.
