Aperion Intimus 4T Hybrid SD (medium cherry)

Pros: Beautiful finish (I've seen both the cherry and piano black (I own the latter))

Cons: Internet only ordering, so you have to take a leap of faith
Subwoofer is EXTREMELY tricky to calibrate

Summary: Although this is my first surround sound system (powered by a Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH), it is far and away better than anything I would have expected for $1600. I'd been researching speakers for well over a year, checking out various electronics stores and friends' set-ups, and I finally settled on these (the day after the CNET review was posted). These speakers are stunning in every way, from appearance to sound, and I love the minitowers.

The customer service was great. The speakers arrived two days after I ordered them (yep, the subwoofer was on backorder for me too, but I'm not going to hold that against Aperion . . . it's not their fault that their speakers are uber popular), and Aperion threw in an SPL meter (for free) to help calibrate the speakers. A co-worker went ahead and ordered the 6Ts (he has a bigger room), and he had nothing but positive things to say about Aperion as well, since he called them to consult which speakers to buy. I will be an Aperion customer for years to come.
