Pros Crisp and clear sound.
Cons Can't decode audio for Blu-ray's formatted in DTS. Optical audio is 5.1 only.
Summary The virtual surround is great. Over all the system has great sound!
Pros -Very easy set up!
-Great sound from two little speakers
Cons -Nothing (the display to show the volume i don't really mind)
Summary Wow, this system is just OUTSTANDING! I was a little nervous to get a 2 speaker system right away because I didn't think 2 speakers could do the trick. I liked this system because i have a PS3 already so getting a receiver with a dvd player seemed like a waste of money to me when i can play dvds and games in the PS3. However, I ended up going with Bose and now i am so glad i did! The system is just amazing, i honestly don't know how some people say it doesn't have great sound quality. The coverage is also great!
Set up took about 10 min, maybe even less. It took longer to almost get everything out of the box then installing it! haha! I love how simple this is, and I believe that "simple is better" applies to this. I mean it would have taken hours to run cords to the back of our living room and hid them. This is also not limited to small rooms. We have ours in a rectangle room and we are very far away from the Tv and it works great!
After the set up i popped in the first movie, The Amazing Spider Man 3D, the action parts were just way more intense. From punches, objects falling, or even spider man shooting his web. We watched Ted yesterday and when the thunder struck in the beginning of the movie some people jumped because it was that intense. Its very close to theater with just two tiny speakers.
Overall, anyone could get this system and enjoy their new HDTV or blu ray dvds and i recommend it to anyone who wants to get a new sound system to make their TV experience even better.
Pros I got it for $540, a little cheaper than some places.
Small and easy setup.
Cons Just not surround sound.
Only one control for adjustments.
Summary I'm finding I wished I had held out and paid for more speakers, but the guy at the store convinced me to go this way, and I know Bose has quality sound. Perhaps it's that he showed me the Bose sound bar with separate subwoofer first, and it was so far superior, this just pales in comparison. Just checked store policy and if they're out of the box, I can only exchange, and they don't have what I want.
Pros 1. Simple and easy setup.
2. Bass is appropriate to what is played & adjustable.
3. Integrates cleanly with overall look of the entertainment area.
4. Huge improvement over TV speakers.
6. Sound is good & spreads throughout the ro
Cons 1. No visible volume level indicator.
2. Audio coming out = the quality of the audio coming in. No way to tweak it, so you should make sure you listen to good sources (Blu-Ray, Zune, etc)
3. Bose's table stand does not seem designed well for these.
Summary If you are an audiophile, you may be disappointed with the Cinemate Series, whether these or the GS II, but that does not mean these are bad speakers. Personally, I believe the Series II sounded the same or a bit better than the GS II (which only gives smaller speakers and a universal remote).
My decision with getting these was the wife wanting a sleeker look within my system. I am happy with my purchase, I do like the sound (as does the family), and I believe the Series II gives good bang for the buck.
If you decide on $800 or more, then I suggest better bang for the buck with purchase of two speakers, a receiver, and a sub, or even the Bose soundbar or multi-speaker setup (The soundbar sounds excellent).
Another benefit is that if you purchase from Bose's site you can choose financing and split the payments up to your credit card, no credit check. Very nice and affordable way to get good audio.
Pros Solid sound, speech is clear.
Cons Maybe overpriced
Summary Very solid sound. Speech is very clear. The bass is not overpowering, but it doesn't need to be for my medium sized living room. It is a very simple set. It may have taken me longer to get everything out of the box/unwrapped. Also, it doesn't take up a lot of space in my living room. Which is a major plus.
I would say price, but in this case, you definitely get what you paid for. It is by no means be able to compete against solid 5.1/7.1 systems. I just sold my Polk audio 5.1 system which included 2 high end towers. I knew this when purchasing this Bose system so maybe I didn't feel disappointed in them. I had to sell my system because we moved to a smaller place.
