    "Never buy Bose"

by tbcass on June 9, 2005

    Pros: sounds OK but

    Cons: grosely Over Priced

Summary: Bose is a bad company. They sell average products, advertise heavily while lying about it's capabilities and sue reviewers who critize their products (look it up!). I will never buy any product made by Bose. Hook your iPod (or any player) up the Klipsch 2.1's for less than $200 and it will offer VASTLY superior sound quality for a lot less money (I am an audiophile).

Interesting take on the "Bose is a bad company" review. I purchased two of the SoundDocks and one of the Klipsch I-Groove units. Just over a year later, the Klipsch gave out (both Bose still running just fine) and I called Klipsch directly only to be told that their I-Groove units are not repairable. NOT repairable at any cost! I was told that at their price, they are disposable units and I should buy another one. Really!.... they weren't that much cheaper than the Bose! I called Bose out of curiousity and was told that this simply would not happen with ANY Bose product. In fact, they still offer repairs and include new warranty (with the repair) on their original 901's made decades ago and they'll give me a brand new warranty with the repair! Thanks for the obviously unbiased review Mr. Cass but I'll stick with my Bose that I'm very pleased with.

tbcass is a horrible reviewer of products as obviously he is simply disgruntled. Maybe he had a bad experience with Bose... but to say that Bose is horrible and everything else he says is simply ridiculous... anyone who has heard music from a Bose speak will say in the very least that the speakers produce is of considerable quality. Please disregard this review. Plus i think the SoundDock is a great system yet i do agree it's a bit pricey.

It is interesting that on one hand, you claim to be an "audiophile" (which is doubtful), and on the other you admit that you do not buy Bose products, which leads us to assume you have never actually listened to this device, let alone listening to it in your own home or office.

It would seem to me that if you were indeed an "audiophile" as you claim, then you wouldnt even be wasting your time with any consumer grade audio gear; yet here you are reviewing items you have never dealt with.

It is also interesting to think of an "audiophile" as an iPod user. I somehow doubt that your oh so delicate sense of hearing doesnt seem to notice a the fact that by default, any sound you hear from your iPod has been sampled and quantized many times over, yet can notice a lack of quality in a product you have never actually heard.

I think that maybe you have missed the point of this device. It is not supposed to be any kind of reference standard audio device, it is a nifty little box that you plug your iPod in to when you want to fill a room with pretty good sounding audio.

Of course, as an audiophile, you knew that already.

I recently bought (ALL three) the BOSE "Sound Dock", the newer Altec Lansing "InMotion iM3", AND the JBL "ON Stage" iPod speakers systems, to make my own, subjective comparisons.

MY Favorite and #1 Bose "Sound dock" without question worth every penny of the price when you want the BEST in quality sound and proven design, with IR Remote, AC Powered and iPod charging for most every unit. Party Time!!

#2 Altec Lansing "InMotion" also with very nice, clean sound at all volumes, compact and folding portable design, No remote control ( BUT, I installed the little "iJet Wireless", 150' RF long range remote on my iPod, to solve that concern), AC/Battery Powered, (Battery Power Saver with on-off switch), Much cheaper, BUT worth even more!

#3 JBL "On Stage" close to the InMotion in sound quality, simple with nice, effective design, No Remote, but remember I have the iJet!, AC powered only ( But, that's why you get the consistently better, distortion free sound!).

They each already have a special place in and around my home!!

Now, let's see,.. which one shall I buy and test, next??? (The Altec Lansing InMotion iM7,.. maybe.....!!

    I really Love my iPod........
