"An idea whose time has come"

Pros: Insanely simple to set up, activate, and enjoy

Cons: Shuts itself off when listening at very low volume
Summary: Already have a nice DVD player w/ HDMI? Got that new LCD HDTV but left uninspired by the sound? Don't want the hassle of running wires all under/over/through your viewing area? Spouse threatening divorce if you place speakers under the endtables and sofa? Trust me, been there, done that. Then along comes this TVee Mod2, and all is good in the world.

After experimenting--and being totally unimpressed--with a couple of 2.1 "faux" surround systems I started looking for a 5.1 HTIB solution that provided a low profile in front and wireless surround speakers. By some little twist of fate the TVee was sitting next to the unit I almost bought. After a short in-store demo, I was sold.

As noted in other reviews, set-up and start-up was a breeze--less than 5 minutes. Even with a relatively low profile, the sound that comes from the bar is very, very good. Nice stereo separation, clean and lucid dialogue without covering up background tracks. To make sure we got the full impact, the wireless sub-woofer made stops at every corner and open wall of our TV room. It was always lost on me why the sound of a helicopter is used in many HT demo DVD's, but when we watched "National Treasure" it all came clear. The thumping of the rotors through the subwoofer made it seem like a chopper was hovering over our backyard. The first full weekend of having this was the NFL playoffs, and friends that were over for the games were in awe of the sound. I kinda felt like a proud new father.

This isn't surround sound, and makes it clear on the box it's for TV "sound enhancement". If you're looking for a faux surround system, look elsewhere. What the TVee will do is knock your socks off while keeping a very low profile. Highly recommended.
