"Crazy deep bass, full surround effects"
Pros: Deep pounding bass, regardless of input.
Fluid surround sound.Cons: Bulky, not for small apartments.
Summary: After hooking up the CVHD 5.1 to my Harman Kardon 254 the difference in sound from my one box DVD/amplified/5.1 system from Panasonic was night and day. The bass really booms when it needs to, and the surround sound when things move from one speaker to the next is flawless. I agree with CVs engineers that each of the satellites should be the same, including the center channel speaker and having 6 speakers per satellite is really beneficial (I used to never hear the rear speakers, now you hear them at just the right time and they are well balanced). Whether I'm playing games on my PS3 or watching Dark Night on BluRay it doesn't matter the sound is always omnipresent and represents extremely well all of the different nuances from the guns and grenades going off all around me in Socom Confrontation to the biplane on Tiger Woods that sounds so lifelike my wife thought the plane was outside and about to hit our house the CVHD always delivers. Bluray discs are equally well balanced and watching the Dark Night reminds me of when my father got his first big screen TV and made everyone watch Top Gun.
Combined with the HK this is the best system I have ever heard.
