Pros Better sound quality than any multimedia system out.
Cons Treble not at crisp as larger Klipsch horned tweeters.
Summary This system blows away any 400 dollar PC system I have owned or tested (Gigaworks, Promedias, Logitechs, Altec… you name it!) As far iPod speakers, none can touch the iFi with a 50 foot poll, and not in any aspect of the sound either.. bass, midrange nor treble.
This system offers a timbre similar to that found in Klipsch's larger speakers. Of course the sats aren’t going to offer mid-bass blow 100hrz with much impact, and the treble is not as proficient as Klipsch’s larger tweeters and horns, but these shortcomings are infinitesimal relative to the sound improvement this system makes over any iPod or PC system on the market in its price range.
The iFi is huge improvement over the older Klipsch Promedia's, and even the subwoofer gives the Ultra 5.1 (the current best multimedia subwoofer on the market) a run for it. Its equal in depth and near equal in SPL, but it emits even less distortion. This is the smoothes multimedia subwoofer I have heard and iPod users should be spoiled to have a sub like this as the very first subwoofer for an exclusive iPod speaker system. The RSX-3's give superb midrange and put even the Creative Labs Gigaworks sats in their place. These blend very nice with the subwoofer in a seamless crossover that often is a shortcoming of many other multimedia systems.
The iFi is not an audiophiles system, and I think Klipsch is getting into trouble using that word so loosely, but at the same token, any audiophile that thinks 400 dollars gets you a complete 2.1 “audiophile” system is a moron! Klipsch hit a homerun with this product but make sure you give it a proper evaluation in your own home before manifesting up some bogus option. I had a bad experience when listing to this in the store, but after taking it home, I swear it was a different set of speakers I heard.
Pros Audiophile like sound
Cons It will make your bose sounddock sound like the soundcrock
Summary I'm not sure why the other reviewer (Priaptor) said it was “tubby.” Sounds like he demo'ed the system in the Apple store after someone had turned the bass to max and left it there on a bass heavy song. He would have noticed that the bass was strong, powerful and undistorted. By default the bass is actually laid back quite a bit, and the speakers are forward sounding. They product midrange that excels in its class, and the system’s sound quality can not be matched by any other $400 2.1 system.
I think these people need to buy the system before writing up these reviews AND audition other systems (like Cambridge Soundworks or Swans audio) that could be potential competitors. Simply demoing an audio system in the store does not quality someone to write a review. It only qualifies them to buy it for themselves, and in some cases such as Priaptor's, it qualifies their actually competence to operate the system… or not. It’s obvious the guy had no idea how to adjust the bass.
Klipsch makes outstanding speakers, they always have and always will and are regarded highly among audiophiles, and the iFi is no exception!
Pros Solid, well engineered and built
Cons Honestly, not one complaint
Summary The minute you crank this system up, which in my case took all of 12 minutes, from open box to hearing tunes, be prepared to be blown away. I have no complaints, and I paid list thru the Apple store. I'm using a 60 gig video ipod and in my opinion, for 800 bucks, i have a killer system.....
Pros Powerful bass, rich sound, incomparible sound quality, impossibly loud, widely compatible
Cons no output port (not that other speaker sys. have it)
Summary I love this. It's the only speaker system that I need. I use it for my computer, my ipod, my radio/cassette/CD player, and everything. It has audiophile sound quality. Nothing can compare to it. And the sub is so powerful. 180 watts of power for an 8" speaker is legendary. I can turn the volume up just half way and the walls start shaking. Light bulbs in a next door room start rattling. An RF remote... Normal speaker systems have infared remotes if they're lucky. Finally, it's from Klipsch. A brand that you can trust that has been a leader in the loudspeaker industry for over 60 years.Updated
Plus I got this at Costco... God, thank you for Wholesale.
I got this for only 200 bucks! It was cheaper than my iPod!
"Cheap at Costco"on by mghotbi
Pros Excellent Sound, Easy Setup
Cons too many wires
Summary Excellent system. Comes with adapters for any dockable ipod. Actually too loud for the room I put it in. Satellite speakers can be wall or ceiling mounted. I got it at Costco for $149 after a $50 instant rebate.
