"Phenominal for the money!"
Pros: DEEP BASS, crisp highs and easy setup
Cons: Surrounds are the weak link
Summary: I bought this system mainly because I couldn't afford the matching surrounds to my new Aperion 533PT speakers. I figured that for under $220 from CNet's sponsors, I couldn't go wrong. I was right! I received a HUGE box that came at the same time as my receiver (Harman Kardon 630). At first, I thought it was a mistake, but I was very wrong! There is nothing cheap about these speakers. They come complete, ready to use and they sound amazing! I'm using the large front speakers as my rear surrrounds and they're set as "large" on my receiver. The other surrounds are set as small, since they really aren't meant for bass. In front is the center channel and the Aperions. I was worried that the Aperions would overpower the Onkyo center channel, but I was wrong. The center is amazing! The voice and tonal qualities are truly fantastic. The large speakers provided excellent depth and character for the movies I enjoy. They also added a lot when playing music in 5 channel stereo mode.
The subwoofer is the real big bonus in this system. I've never heard bass this nice in a woofer that ALONE cost less than $250, never mind a complete system that cost less than $250!!!! It definitely gets the job done! This sub alone can definitely fill a 20'x20' room with ease.
