Pros High quality fit and finish; great sound for our needs;works well with other Panasonic products;uses two HDMI cables and possibly 1 optical audio cable; great base; great price from Costco
Cons No real problems with this unit. If you are real 'picky' and possibly obsessive you may find a fault.
Summary Sound projects into the room; wireless subwoofer works well; turns on and off with one Panasonic remote for TV, DVD Recorder and Sound bar; and you don't need a Phd in wiring and remote control operation to enjoy a home theater experience.
Pros Good price, Nice sound. Used the optical cable and worked fine. Sound bar is the future of surround sound. Simple set up, Great sound.
Cons Wish the cable came in the box. I was lucky to have the cable laying around.
Summary For 200.00 dollars, Great buy.
Pros Easy to pack up and return to store.
Cons Not functional on a 50 inch Samsung I bought 2 years ago.
Summary I bought this at Costco for $220 on Dec 7th to go with my 50 inch Samsung plasma, model PN50A550, purchased in Dec. 2008. The subwoofer plugged in easily into an outlet. The digital transmitter piece clicked into the back of the sound bar easily too. However, the subwoofer could not get the wireless connection to the soundbar, no matter what I did. Just as important, the soundbar itself would NOT turn on, no matter which of the 3 HDMI inputs I connected it to in the back of my tv (note that this Panasonic soundbar does NOT come with either an HDMI cable nor an optical digital audio cable - you must supply these yourself). I also connected the HDMI to both connections in the back of the sound bar. No combination of connections ever got the sound bar to turn on (there is a power button on the sound bar as well as on the remote). This review of the Panasonic product was my first on CNET. I find it interesting that another first-time reviewer wrote a very positive review of the product only hours after my negative review was posted.
I did not purchase the optical cable. Since the sound bar would not turn on power when plugged into the audio HDMI connection of the Samsung tv or the other two Samsung HDMI connections, I figured buying the optical cable would be a waste of time. I am packing it up and returning it to Costco.
While this sound bar is supposed to work easily with a Panasonic tv that has a "Panasonic Viera Link," it was a large paper weight with this Samsung.

Pros Easy of use, hooked up to my PC with only an optical cable...that's it! Good bass. Clear sound. No issues with the wireless communication. Sure, It's no 5.1 system...but for the PC station...it's excellent. Attractive build quality too.
Cons Wish the indicator lights would stay on for the options set. Not a big deal. I guess they didn't want a bunch of LED's lit while watching something.
Summary I got this system free with a Panasonic HDTV purchase through Amazon. I already have a 5.1 system for the new TV so I hooked this beauty up to my PC. I have to say, it would be worth the $240ish asking price for someone looking for great/clear sound and bass and a small footprint. I can see where it would be great for TV rooms that are smaller and don't have a full 5.1 option. I can't understand why someone would say there are no bass tuning options. RTFM dumas...you can play with several settings. Bottom line: WORTH IT!
