"There is truly nothing like it!"
Pros: Offroad prowess, driver safety features, air suspension, great handling for 5700lbs.
Cons: Gas mileage, quality control, clickity engine.
Summary: This is my first British and Land Rover vehicle. For a long time I've wanted a Land Rover and finally my dream came true; everything I wanted in a truck that can do anything; almost. My father always warned not to purchase a vehicle in the first year of production. I should have listened. I'm also aware of British cars being quirky as well. I have to say I didn't really want to find this out on a 50k + truck. To make a long story short my Landy has been in numerous times for various things such as: Electronic parking brake fault, transmission fault. My air suspension compressor has been replaced twice. My dashboard was creaking and snapping a lot as well. My V8 is a little clickity sounding; I broke it in correctly and change the oil even before the 7000 mile interval. The transmission had a problem that was called tip and bump; the tranny would downshift bang to first coming to a near stop when accelerating. That was fixed with a software update that took nearly a month before Land Rover developed it, not to mention the other software updates that had to be done as well, but it worked fine so far, no more tip and bump. There's more but for the sake of time but I wont go into it. What's good is that I was given an extension on my existing warranty bringing it to 6 years 100k miles. But there are times I think I'm not quite sure if I would want to take this truck on a trip to like Wyoming or Arizona or any long distant trip and have a fault code that affects or shuts down other components as well. Like when my air suspension failed and I was stuck in bump-stop mode and it also shuts out terrain response as well. Hey it was cool for awhile feeling what it was like driving a low-rider, and then I realized how much I paid for this thing and then it wasn't so entertaining.
All in all I have to say that when I purchase another SUV it will have to be a Land Rover. Land Rover and Ford will get this thing right just like they did for Jaguar. They have to they have my money wrapped up in it. Look, I did a lot of research on Land Rover and I had some knowledge of what I was getting. Nothing is perfect and I like the fact that Land Rover is taking care of the issues in a rather timely manner. Also it's a hell of an off-roader as well; it can nearly climb a wall sans it's weight.
