Pros: Beautiful, safe, comfortable, gas guzzling ride.
Cons: More time spent at the repair shop than on the highway.
Summary: My 13-year old could make better circuit boards and wiring designs. This vehicle is repleat with electronic glitches (the good thing is that we did not get charged extra for those!) and poor interior trim design and manufacturing. Computer/Electronics/Sensors: What can I say...Let's see...MS Windows 95 had less crashes. Here's a list of things that don't work properly: Door locks, keyless entry, tire pressure sensors, mirror adjustment, driver convenience presets. We replaced the tire pressure sensors. We got new keyless entry transmitters. The dealership repaired the other stuff. With respect to the interior trim, here's what we have replaced in 24 months: Rear hatch latch (2), rear passenger power plug cover, rear passenger ash-tray cover, passenger door handle, wood-grained door trim (4), temperature adjustment switch, light switch, fan switch, front passenger RH dash vent. We are on our second set of tires and will soon buy a third set. I just bought replacement wiper blades for $18 US each. For $40,000 US, I recommend any other car in the class. For example, the Murano. One thing that's been nice, our dealership has been great, and probably has not charged me for stuff that they should have. One time, we had a loaner car from the shop for over 2 weeks. I would buy another car from the dealer, but I would have to be highly convinced to make it a Touareg. It's too bad this vehicle has not lived up to even 25% of its hype.
