"Great "do-it-all" vehicle"
Pros: Extremely comfortable for a truck, storage everywhere, excellent fit and finish, versatile, above average handling for a pick-up, incredible safety rating
Cons: Gas mileage could be better for a V-6, poor rearward view, no daytime running lights
Summary: Let me start by saying that I have owned vehicles made by Ford, VW, Mazda, and now Honda. I really don't have a preference to a certain brand; I just want a good product. My new 2008 (essentially unchanged from the 2006 model) Ridgeline RTL has impressed me like no other new vehicle I have owned. It is truly a great truck. It will comfortably and quietly haul 4 adults on long trips, carry my landscaping materials, tow a small boat, and get me where I need to go in snow and bad weather. It is also one of the safest pick-ups that you can own. It received 5 stars on all crash ratings with the exception of roll-over (4 stars).
That being said, the Ridgeline is not a heavy-duty truck. It's towing capacity is 5000 lbs. and it is only suited for moderate off-road duty. You can't go muddin' in this truck while towing your 50 foot yacht. But if you are looking for a "jack-of-all-trades"
pick-up that will transport your family in safety and comfort, while still being able to do the occasional moderate hauling or off-road duty, then this is the vehicle for you. Comparable models include the Ford Sport Trac and the Chevy Avalanche. Both are good vehicles that do things a little differently than the Honda. Both also offer V-8 engines if you need more grunt. I chose the Ridgeline for it's versatility and reliability. Plus, you can turn the trunk area under the bed into a giant beer cooler!
Oh, and the look of the Ridgeline grows on you after a while. At least it did for me. Test drive one if you are looking for a mid-sized pick-up for the family. You'll probably like it!
