"CNET misses the mark.."
Pros: Motor Trend SUV of the Year 2006, extremely capable
Cons: City gas mileage, no rear window lift
Summary: As a proud owner of a 2006 Xterra I have to say that when I came across this review I was quite shocked. Contrary to the review, this SUV does not ride rough on city streets and gas mileage although not the best is satisfactory given it's an SUV. Laura is right in that this truck is not for soccer moms or weekday commuters - but duh. I bought this truck to handle all-weather conditions in the mountains and it passed the test this past winter with flying colors. This SUV drives so solid and handles ice, slush, 1 foot of snow pack, rain and mud with ease. When this truck was only 2 months old I took it through the muddiest terrain you could imagine and it powered through like a tank. My washer fluid never froze up in sub zero temperatures - which was nice. Now that I've owned it for five months the few things i wish it had were temp guage inside of outside temp, rear window lift (so you don't have to lift the tailgate to access the rear compartment each time) and aux jack on the stereo - to make for easier satellite radio compatibility. For serious buyers, you will find out that this truck is in a class of it's own with regard to off-road capability and the price cannot be beat.
