"Ford Supporting Hybrids in the Future?"
Pros: Decent ride with hybrid
Cons: Longevity of Support from Ford
Summary: The use of the Toyota first generation hybrid technology in a small SUV is pretty amazing. The Ford Escape drives like my 2002 Toyota Prius, except the Escape is heavier and larger. However, I did not buy one because I really was not sure if Ford was really going to continue supporting the hybrid technology. If my memory serves me correctly, Bill Ford (CEO at the time) said publicly that Ford will not be supporting the hybrid. I contacted Ford corporate via e-mail to confirm this statement, and all I got in return was a "form letter" referring me to their environmental web page.
So I am skeptical in Ford's long-term support for this technology. If someone else heard differently about their support, please let me know.
