The Bottom Line The 2008 Nissan Rogue doesn't rate highly as a tech car due to its lack of any major cabin gadgets, but we like its general usability and its continuously variable transmission. The Rogue just barely manages to meet our performance expectations for a crossover SUV in its price range, and falls short when it comes to cabin tech. The 2009 Nissan Murano benefits from trickle-down tech options available in Nissan's top models and seems to work best when fully optioned. Regardless of tech options, the Murano is a nimble urban navigator. Former VW GTI owners who need more space for a family will absolutely love the performance of the Volkswagen Tiguan S, but those looking for high-tech options will want to look further upmarket. The 2009 Honda CR-V EX-L's small size and Civic-like handling make it a great choice for city dwellers who occasionally need to haul things--or people. While the cabin tech is impressive, a few more features, such as Bluetooth or iPod connectivity, would make it a home run.
