"The New 2009 Ram is a Slam Dunk!" on by smoothbassman

Pros: This truck is a freaking luxury vehicle inside with enough power to pull a freaking tree out of the ground. I love the power of this truck and the interior is magnificent. I got the sport model with the Nav, Leather, Sunroof and Remote Start.

Cons: The Fuel economy can be much better. Driving around town you can expect at 15 MPG. Took my first road trip in the truck and it stayed at 16.5MPG on the highway. The jump to get into the truck is pretty high. Running boards should be standard.

Summary: First let me start. I have a 4x4 Quad Cab Sport model with the 5.7 engine with every available option on the truck except the ram box.

You can't go wrong with this truck. The looks are game changing. Aggressive style, dual exhaust, and 20 inch rims all options on other trucks, these options are standard on the Dodge! The interior has every option that the new Lexus has. Rear camera, DVD, Navigation, Heated and Cooled Seats adjustable pedals and remote start! My wife likes the truck better than her car and I can see why, its a luxury vehicle in a trucks body!

The ride on the highway is way smoother than the Trailblazer that I had before because of the rear coil springs instead of the leaves on other trucks. I originally was going to get a Chevy but you can't even get all of these options south of 50K on a Chevy. This truck fully loaded was only 42K! My only beef is that it was listed as 18 to 20MPG on the highway and I haven't even come close to that number. Granted the car only has less than 1000 miles on it and the dealer said it would run rich until about 1500 miles so I'm waiting to see what happens on that.

The power is amazing. I waited for the 700 miles mark before I really put my foot in it. Rolling from 20 MPH to pass a car right quick the freaking rear wheels broke loose and started screaming! The traction control kicked in and keep the wheel spin down as I just shot out like a rocket! Now thats power! To turn the wheels over from a rolling start! The Dodge kicks tail with the Hemi.

The quad cab is pretty roomy. Not as roomy as the Crew Cab but there is plenty of room for three adults to get back there comfortably. If you need more space you can get the crew cab but you loose out on the box. You go from a 6.5 foot box to a 5.5 foot box with the larger cab. I need the longer box to keep my quad closed up in the back on the highway. According to the dealer you only get 3 more inches of legroom in the back with the quad cab. For me the quad was roomy enough.

I'm upset that they took out the behind the rear seat storage though. As a replacement they put a fairly large storage bin under the rear seats. Beware though. If you have the upgraded Alpine sound system they will put a very large sub woofer in the passenger side storage area cutting your space in half!

I have only had the truck for a month, and I am very happy about my purchase. I have been coming up with excuses just to take a ride. This is the best Dodge Ram every and the 1st to be offered with the MyGig system. The Uconnect system hooks up perfectly with my iPhone and it downloaded my entire phone book right to the hard drive automatically!

Dodge really put their foot in this truck. Its the best truck on the market right now for the price. You can't even come close with a Ford or Chevy. Its class leading torque and options. What other truck offers, rear camera, cooled seats, 20" chrome wheels 390HP and coil over rear suspension. None.

Test drive it and you will not pick any other truck for your garage.

"Best thing from DODGE!" on by jbui357

Pros: Smooth ride, UConnect is very convenient and easy to operate, plenty of power and looks tough.

    Cons: NONE so far

Summary: I have the 2009 Laramie 4x2 Crew Cab, bought in April of 2008 now with 37K and no problems. This is my second Ram 1500 and this one blew me away. I get complements from 80 yr old grandmothers. 14.5 mpg combined in not bad for 390 bhp and what this truck can do that and SUV cant. My wife hated my 2003 RAM 1500 5.9L 4x4 monster but loves this one so much its turned into a family vehicle. My only complaint is the LED light on the side mirrors cost $99 to replace the whole unit. You cant just replace the bulb.

"Everything a 1/2 ton should be" on by sumboater24

Pros: Best looks inside and out of any truck on the road. Ingenious new storage designs and amenities. 400 Horsepower (say it out loud and you'll see what I mean). Feels like a sedan on the highway and an SUV on the corners.

Cons: Gas mileage... You're buying a truck, get over it. Also, Jealousy. Just know it's not you, its your epic truck.

Summary: I have a Laramie 4x4 loaded to the max (RamBoxes included). The only thing I don't have is an engine block heater. This truck is hands down the best on the road in the 1/2 ton class. If you're buying a 1/2 ton, you don't need 13,000 lbs towing capacity or an 8,000 lbs bed. Thats what 3/4 and full ton trucks are for. This truck combines what the average male wants/needs. Looks, styling, quality, ride comfort, power, and versatility.

The looks need nothing more to be said. The interior truly makes you feel like your riding in a truck thats worth the money you paid for it. Who wants hard plastic dash trim and matt simple push button AM/FM? Look at the interior, chrome and leather trim, full leather dash, touch screen DVD/CD/MP3/HDD/SAT/JFDS/FUFHE/IEUTR/MFDJKNF/ you get the idea. The 30 gig hard drive is used more than you'd imagine. The 120V outlet is ideal for well, plugging things in to... I use it all the time, situations just come up and when you think you're out of power... nope, plug it into the DASHBOARD! really? thanks dodge.

The RamBox is the best feature of this truck. It's used for groceries, home depot trips (if you own a house you know what I'm talking about), golf clubs, beach towels, and yes, loading it up with ice and 'beverages' like the pamphlets show becomes the center of any tailgate party.

Power... it's not a valve burning muscle car but it has enough muscle and torque (before tire spin) to blow away any truck and most domestics with ease. Hwy driving is a breeze with the best acceleration above 60mph for any truck and most cars as well.

Towing - my experience is with a 4,000lbs trailer/load and it's no exaggeration in saying I couldn't even feel it there. The rear back up cam makes parking easy and makes the gargantuan truck feel nimble in parking lots.

20" rims, a grill that rivals a peterbilt, aftermarket flowmaster sound stock, in floor coolers, one hand flip up rear seats for more storage (I fit an entire disasembled 8' pool table in the cab with the back seats flipped up, and a fully boxed from the store 50" tv with the seats down in the cab)... So i can safely answer the question: Yes, there is plenty of leg room in the back seats.

Talking cons, obviously dodge is known for poor fuel eco.. well crunch these numbers and think about how much emphasis fuel economy really plays in a decision when your weighing between loving your truck or being frugal. .. :
the difference between 15 and 17 in the city and 18 and 20 on the hwy = 13$ difference between 32 gallon tanks.... (2mpg more for 32 gal is 64 miles travelled farther per tank.. divided by the average economy (on the high side) of 20mpg = 3.2 gallons. At a rate of 4$ a gallon, thats 13$ more a tank.... FOR A 32 gallon tank (extended tank option that i advise getting)!!! standard is 26 gal.. So 10$ more a tank at the VERY MOST. In reality my truck gets 16 city and 19 hwy w/ ac on. If you want a hybrid truck, fine, you get 25% overall better economy.. I had an electric truck too once upon a time.. it was a power wheels.

I love the truck, and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a 1/2 ton that isnt going to be hauling their 13,000 lbs 48' horse trailer around town. But to someone who wants a truck they can be happy climbing into everyday that will never limit them in what they are looking for it to do.
