"Read the small print - ask a lot of questions"
Pros: With some after market adornment, it is a nice looking car. Fairly quiet inside.
Cons: Under powered. Doesn't deliver on gas mileage claimed. Not much room in the driver's seat. Doors don't always unlock when you put the car in park. Rear package rack falls down when you hit a bump. Poor material quality inside.
Summary: When I purchased this vehicle I somehow never realized how small the drivers space is, my wife did a lot of the test driving. There were three sales people involved and all were well aware that the reason we were attracted to the Pilot was because it had a Tow Package that came on all Pilot models. None of the above mentioned that not all tow packages on all models are equal. For all the effort they put in to this tow package like transmission cooler, etc., they did not include the trailer wire harness or plug!! I only discovered this when attempting to install the electronic brake controller. Oh, they do put it on the Touring model. When I ask why I didn't have it they said because some people use a 4 wire and some use a 7 wire and if I wanted it installed it would be $240.00. I don't know what people who buy a touring model do.
As I was driving home, I noticed on the sun visor below a sticker warning about air bags, another sticker that said ' WARNING Higher Rollover Risk' - Don't make any abrupt manuevers. Don't drive at high speeds. No mention of this at the car dealer.
We drove from Phoenix to Las Vegas and back and never got better than 22 MPG.
I noticed as you open the front doors, in the body jamb of the car there appears to be broken off pieces of styrofoam pushed into the crevices and then spray painted black. Sound proofing I guess. The rug in the back has no edging, it is simply cut to the end/edge of the floor and stops. It seems it will easily start to fray and come loose in a short time. There is a nook in the middle lower part of the dash that is odd shaped and will not hold CD's, cups, or much else I can think of. There are two cup holders in the front but you have to keep the center console open to use them. Isn't it strange how you only notice these things AFTER you buy the car. Priced around the same as most other comparable size cars, they offer very little or no discounts off MSRP and unlike a lot of new cars today that offer as much as 10 years on the train, Honda still only has 36 thousand/three years.
