"One of the best purpose-built SUVs out there."4.5 starson by HunterBri
Pros: Built on truck platform, short wheelbase, one of the best off-road vehicles. Large, easy to see and push audio and climate control buttons. Plenty of mod possibilities for the DIY'er. Very capable engine, transmission and gearing arrangement.
Cons: Could use an ambient temperature display. Base unit should come with roof rack cross bars and more adjustable seating.
Summary: This is my second second-generation Xterra (I had an '07), having recently purchased my 2010 Xterra. Nissan intended this vehicle to be a no-frills, basic adventure-person-mover. Not a cushy, comfortable soccer-mom road-only SUV. The design and engineering of this vehicle allows for many after-market off-road modifications, which many long-time Xterra owners appreciate. If you are looking for a technology-laden, cushy on-the-road SUV, this is not the one for you. If you want one of the best (for the price) purpose-built off-road adventure vehicles, then you can't go wrong with an Xterra.
