Pros: Nice looking, decent mileage with CVT, lots of room, practical, AWD.

Cons: Some cars have serious problems. I

Summary: I was all set to buy a 2010 Outback a month ago with money in hand at the Subaru dealer for about $28k, but subject to a test drive. I hadn't driven the car yet because the dealer was 100 miles away. On the test drive the steering wheel had a shimmy. They rebalanced all tires. Shimmy was lessened by still there. I drove on old, brand new and pothole pavement on the drive. Test drove 2 other brand new Outbacks on their lot. Same problem but in varying degrees. One car was even worse than the first one I drove. I left the dealership. Bought a 2010 Honda CRV a week later---I already had a 2005 CRV so I trusted the brand. Went to the Outback forum on the web and found many complaints going back over a year with this problem. Subaru has either not figured it out or knows the solution is too expensive to fix it. Be careful, that's all I can say.
