Pros Cost to features ratio is very good. The MyFord Touch is not only unique but fun to operate.
Cons The cargo cover sold for this model is a complete waste of money.
Summary It was mentioned in the review the interface can be sluggish, as with all electronics, updates occur and the latest update to the MyFord Touch interface has severely limited if not eliminated any sluggish nature.
I almost waited for the Explorer to come out with the same interface but after test driving this car there was no sense in waiting. This crossover is just a joy to own and drive.
Pros Just about everything
Cons Center touch screen is a little laggy.
My Ford Touch still has some bugs that need to be fixed.
Summary Great car some of the MFT features need some work still but overall great car!
Pros Stylish, nice interior, the "look" of the screens are nice, stylish exterior too.
Cons SYNC/MyFord Touch has a TERRIBLE delay. It makes it impossible to program a destination into the navigation system. Thank god you can program a destination by voice, but that can be a disaster too!
My backup camera didn't work for a while and now it o
Summary I really want to like this car but I am SO SO SO disappointed. I previously had a 2008 Acura RDX that had the in-cabin bluetooth, as well as navigation and an ipod hook-up. When my lease was up in February 2011 I HAD to have a Ford. My husband had a 2008 Explorer with the SYNC system and after experiencing that, and with Ford coming out with the updated SYNC/MyFordTouch I thought it would be an incredible system...and it would be an incredible system, IF IT RELIABLY WORKED. I don't know if it is the SYNC/MyFordTouch system or just the Edge itself because my husband and brother-in-law both got 2011 Explorers at the same time that I got my Edge and they haven't had as many issues as I have, other than some phone connectivity issues.
The phone is 50/50, half the time the phone will connect and be clear and fine. The other half of the time the person I'm "talking" to on the phone can't hear me at all and they are staticy and break up a lot. My phone is new and is supposed to be compatible with the system. Unfortunately it's only compatible some of the time. A lot of times it won't connect at all, and when it does sometimes the other person can't hear me at all, even though I can hear them.
The back-up camera is a problem too. That was a definite item that I need my cars to have. Since I have a toddler and there are a lot of kids in my neighborhood it is very important to me to have a fully functioning back-up camera!
If you want to buy this car, buy it with the understanding that the SYNC/MyFordTouch is not 100%. One of my biggest issues with it is that when I tried to program my home address in, it showed me the street on the map, but when I set it as the destination it failed. Apparently it can show me a pretty picture of where I live but it can't tell me how to get there. I do understand that it is a private road that I live on, HOWEVER, it shows me the EXACT ROAD on the map AND in the old SYNC system it recognized my home address. So what kind of "upgrade" was made when it no longer recognizes a street that it once did?
Unless Ford is able to work these problems out I am going to regret for the next few years that I got a Ford and didn't stick with my Acura's that I've owned for the past 15 years.
If you really want a Ford and the SYNC/MyFordTouch system I would recommend getting the Explorer. I actually enjoy driving my husbands 2011 Explorer better than my Edge now anyway. The Edge feels more like an SUV than the Explorer does. I like the styling of the new Explorer better than the Edge too.
Pros Absolutely stunning interior design, plenty of room, and amazing Tech.
Cons Price is a bit steep compared to competition. Could use more space for storage. Not as much Pep as the competition.
Summary I love this vehicle. I took 2 months test driving, researching, and talking to dealers about many different SUV's/Crossovers. I decided on the Ford Edge for the Tech, smooth drive, and the over all look. I think the Edge looks great, and the tech is mind blowing...sure there are a few issues with them, but they will be taken care of in patches, and upgrades. Sync is a reason alone to pick up a Ford (a brand that I have never owned) and now I'm very happy with my purchase.
Pros comfort, acceleration, design, interface, space, technology, huge sun roof
Cons not so far
Summary After to read 100s of reviews I had decided to buy the new grand cherokee (GC) 2011 here in Chile. At a Jeep store they really did not take a good care of me. No negotiations, no comments about the car. THE PRICE IS THIS AND THAT`S IT! WE HAVE A GREAT DEMAND!!! the best I got is that I could do the test drive theb I went directly to Ford so I test drive both SUVs at same day. Now I have the SEL EDGE (only model sell here) for 3 weeks.
INTERIOR: EDGE is much more beautiful, modern, strong and there is much more space than in the GC
EXTERIOR: The lines of the EDGE they are soft, more aerodynamics and the and more sexy.
DRIVE: I speed up both SUVs and the EDGE respond much more faster than the GC. CG was a kind of "boat" yes a boat.. moves to one side to another as you are in the water.
SYNC: Hey this is an IT SUV. Don`t give one to your grandpa or grandma. You will enjoy it but you have to study the manual a little bit. Don´t think you will get in and you will communicate with this tech right away. I am 39 years old, I love computers but so far I only have used 60% of SYNC potential.
OFF ROAD: I did not drive this car on rocks or loose snow but I can tell you. If you use a car more than 70% of your time on highways you will not need a Jeep. It handles pretty well. the AWD works perfectly well. It is nice you can see it in one of its menu.
OTHERES: Well everybody looks when you pass by. The car is cute!!!!
