"Totally different vehicle than the previous Explorers;"
2.0 starson by SuffolkPunchPros: Electronic 'gizmos' are good, particularly the rear view camera.
Cons: The changes to the Explorer are NOT for the better. Arm rests for the driver are too far away, making for uncomfortable long distance driving. Seats not as comfortable as in my old Explorer. Interior side panelling looks and feels cheap. City gas mil
Summary: Should have bought the 2010 Explorer rather than the 2011, or a 2011 GMC Acadia. My fault, should have investigated the 2011 model more thoroughly instead of assuming that what I was buying was a newer version of the old Explorer. Will not buy another Explorer and would not recommend the 2011 model to anyone who wants a solidly built SUV.
There is an intermittant rattle/vibration which seems to come from the base of the passenger side windshield pillar when driving in windy conditions at highway speeds. Quite loud and annoying. This has apparently happened with some other 2011 Explorers.

Updated on Nov 22, 2011I'm finding the 'My Ford' touch system to be sluggish and the screen to be cluttered; have to ask my front seat passenger to make changes. Also, having the garage door buttons on sun shield not a good idea - have to have the shield is in the 'up' position in order to open the garage door. The response time for the door to open can also be very slow. Getting more and more exasperated with the uncomfortable drivers seat.
