Pros: Simple to back up information.

Cons: No support from HP!! Will replace product if faulty. Recovery of any info on defective drive starts at $700 USD!! BRUTAL Customer service dispite them stating that they are SO great with Cust Service.

Summary: USB port went on 1TB SimpleSave External Hard Drive at 10 mths. I called HP Customer Service (Canada) and was transfered 3 times. I was on hold a total of 67 minutes!!! (It was a little hard hearing the message on hold telling me how GREAT their customer service is) They finally gave me another number to call. I needed to call them the next day as it was closed, and turned out to be the wrong division! They gave me the correct division to call, and it was in the USA. (1-866-444-7407). I explained that the techs at Best Buy examined the device, as well as myself, and we concluded that the USB port was faulty.( A $1 part ) I also told them that I just want the part fixed. They told me that I needed to talk to their Dealer Recovery division if I wanted the info off of the drive. And they gave me another telephone number. I called them, and was told that they only deal in defective/broken hard drives. Not USB or Power Ports. And, if the drive was broken their rates BEGIN at $699 USD. But, they said, a USB clearly is the job of the previous number that I called. So, off to call the other number back and explain it to them. So I called them back. I explained what I had been told. They said that there is nothing that they can do. If I open the case to recover my data, my warrantee is VOID. If I send it to them they will send me a replacement, but my data is lost. If I want my data it will cost $700USD. So, go buy a new different Hard Drive, open the HP drive (VOIDING my Warantee), hard wire and transfer the info over and toss my HP Drive in the trash. Basically, I am screwed. YUP.....GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE GUYS !!!!! NOT !!!!!!
