    "Excellent Tablet, minor quibbles"

by ranakabir on August 14, 2005

Pros: Light, thin, fast, excellent security. Fantastic display, well designed, elegant looks.

Cons: Low capacity standard battery. Relatively slow 1.8" hard drive, rubber feet fell off after 3 weeks!

Summary: This is probably the most thoroughly engineered pure tablet on the market as of September 05! It is very fast and very usable on a day to day basis. It would be even faster if the hard drive was not of the 1.8" variety. In Motion's defense the LE1600 is using the fastest 1.8" drive available right now. This was necessary for the thin profile which brings up the wonderfully balanced and lightweight nature of this tablet. It is a significant improvement over the M-1400 I had been using.

The standard battery lasts a little over 2 hours so the extended (optional) plate battery is a must if you want 6-7 hours of mobility. The fit & finish could be better and one of the rubber feet fell off after three weeks of use! I guess they need to improve the adhesive. Highly recommended!

After having lived with it a year and a half, I can safely say it is the best tech investment I have ever made. It has taken quite a beating and is still ticking! It is virtually indispensable and the design has definitely stood the test of time.

It is still the best pure slate on the market. Motion has kept up with it over the months by publishing timely BIOS updates and the machine is flawless! Their Tech support has always helped me beyond the call of duty. Motion Computing is right now the best mobile computing Corporation on this planet!
