The Toshiba Satellite R10/R15 series of convertible tablets includes one customizable and two fixed configurations. The Satellite R10 offers processors ranging from a 1.5GHz Intel Celeron to a 2GHz Pentium M; up to 1GB of somewhat slow, 333MHz RAM; poky 4,200rpm hard drives in 40GB, 60GB, and 80GB capacities; and a choice of CD-RW/DVD-ROM or a double-layer, multiformat DVD burner. The fixed-configuration Satellite R15-S829 features a 1.7GHz Pentium M processor, 512MB of RAM, an 80GB hard drive, and a DVD burner; we reviewed the other fixed configuration, the Satellite R15-S822, which has a 1.6GHz Pentium M processor, 512MB of RAM, a 60GB hard drive, and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive.
All Satellite R10/R15 models share Intel integrated graphics as well as a hefty 6.1-pound case that makes the tablet too heavy for handheld use or for frequent travel. However, the broad 14.1-inch display, with a 1,024x768 native resolution, gives plenty of room for taking handwritten notes at the conference table.
