  • "A large Apple Touch."
    0.5 stars
    on by Gaucho90

    Pros: Large screen.

Cons: Large screen means it is no longer portable like a Touch or an IPhone. Who is going to carry this around???

Summary: Netbooks are cheaper and do a lot more. This is the Newton revisited unless they make it a lot more powerful and drop the price.

Its a nice toy. I tried one and have a friend who owns one. Its heavier than it looks, has no stand, so so apps, and a very glossy screen. Get a Droid X with a Kindle to go with your Windows pc and you are set.

All you Apple fanboys need to stop acting like you don't know what he's talking about. Obviously he meant the iPod Touch. The guy is right, i own one. It's a large iPod Touch with a better screen and faster processor. It is NOT a laptop or even net book replacement. So enjoy our overpriced, oversized iPod. I'll enjoy my net book that does laps around it and was $200 cheaper

It's not just a large iPod Touch. You must DO NOT own one.

Well... I own 3 Windows laptops and 1 netbook. XP, Vista and Win7, between the 4 of them and I will say that based on the CNET review, those machines do much, much more than the iPad. They all have Flash capability by default, they all have built-in webcams, all have keyboards and touchpads, along w/ removable and replaceable batteries. I'm not knocking the iPad, because quite frankly I don't own one. But based on the review here (CNET's, not the user's) I don't see myself purchasing one anyway. I know that my Netbook has a faster processor @ 1.66Ghz and it has 2GB of RAM. It also has built in 802.11n Wi-Fi. I can think of many things it won't do that the iPad does, but I can think of many more that it CAN do that the iPad can't. And fopr what it's worth, one laptoip cost $700, but it has a 2.6Ghz processor and 3GB of RAM. The other 2 and the netbook were all between $300-$400.

That's wonderful. It's a "large Apple Touch," whatever an Apple Touch is. You can do many things on an iPad that you can't do on a netbook, and the number of things you can do on a netbook that you can't on an iPad is much smaller. The price will be dropped eventually; technology is always most expensive when it's first released. If you think it's not powerful you clearly don't own it. Even with 256 MB DRAM and a 1 GHz SoC it's still much, MUCH faster than netbooks and in everyday use the iPad will beat any Windows laptop under $1000 for that matter.
