"Don't understand all the love for this devise."2.5 starson by IMsumguy
Pros: Great form factor
It's a tablet, love that part
Cons: Connectivity Stinks
Summary: Wife and I wanted tablets to stay connected while at work, and on travel because large corporation she works for doesn't allow interaction with google calendar on their laptops through their network. So, it worked great for that purpose. Facetime is also fantastic for a traveling parent to talk to kids every day. The form factor, size, weight, etc, and the ability to access the web without mousing around are also all a big plus.
My major gripe with the Ipad...connectivity.
OK, I listen to all the Apple lovers spout off about USB being old technology, but you now what, it's still the best way to get data in and out of a devise. Period. You can play around with I-tunes, and Cloud computing all you want, but it just won't make up for the inability to easily drag and drop items onto a devise. While i'm on connectivity....So you can buy their camera connection kit with both USB and SD card capability but don't be fooled into thinking you can easily use these to bring movies or documents onto your Ipad. I'm sure there is some greedy corporate reason for this, but without all kinds of converting and basically tricking the Ipad, you can't take home movies and put them on your ipad for viewing. How's that for back assward? This devise screams to be used to interact with other portable devices and Apple does everything possible to make that difficult. It's hard to believe all the Apple fans are ok with this?
I'll be honest, I love the ipad, and use it every day, but I love it because it's a tablet and the only good option right now. I just really don't like all the "Apple" parts of it. The minute there is a thinner Android option then the Xoom, this baby is going on Ebay.
