"Best option if you're looking for a mature product"
on by DSL69Pros Second generation device
Size, weight, and battery life are best in class
Mature, stable, and consistent user experience
65,000 plus applications vs <100 for Android (larger market of developers for the device)
More options for content (audio, video, bCons No Flash support if you want to watch HULU, but there are plenty of content alternatives. Overall, I don't miss Flash
Summary I don't usually buy first generation devices so I waited on the sidelines this past year watching my friends enjoy their iPad 1s or various android tablets. I spent the last few months researching and test driving any tablet I could get my hands on. I finally bought a Xoom and an iPad 2 and used them side by side for week. Ultimately, I chose the iPad 2 do to the maturity of the offering. By that I mean: a robust, stable, and consistent user experience; larger market of apps and accessories; more options for content. Android's/Xoom's technical specs look great on paper, but they don't always translate to a difference to the user experience. I simply could do more with the iPad than I could with the Xoom. That may change in a couple of years, but at the same time I don't see Apple sitting around doing nothing the next couple of years either.

"A disruptive technology that's still finding a purpose."
on by blueOrbitPros Apple-quality construction. Lighter than a laptop and bigger than a smartphone. Fast "boot-up". Slick, intuitive, and familiar interface. You can pretty much type away in the landscape keyboard like it's a real keyboard.
Cons Still no "retina" display. Printing is a little tricky. No support for Flash. Camera quality.
Summary There's nothing I can say here that hasn't already been mentioned a million times over so I'll keep it brief.
To anyone worried about the camera, which is cheap, think about whether or not you're REALLY going to be holding up a 10", 1.3 lb, tablet to take pictures that you care about. The camera is clearly intended for FaceTime chat and that's it.
I wish it supported Flash, but more and more websites have Flash-free versions now that it's not as big of a problem as I thought.
I also wish the iPad 2 had come with Retina Display, but I can understand how that may have been too much of a cost roadblock.
I'm seriously considering a desktop now for my next real PC as I don't see myself carrying around a laptop when I can do pretty much everything I need on the iPad. For work, that's not the case, but for personal trips, I could easily get by with this.
The only thing I can suggest to anyone considering and iPad is go the Apple Store, or even Best Buy, and play with one. -
"A great device for the entire family!"
on by Lee Koo (ADMIN)Pros User friendly interface, great battery life, abundance of apps
Cons Too expensive to buy one for each member of the family. Wish it had the Retina display, oh well, maybe when the new version comes out.
Summary Not really a gadget that is necessary, but a great to have! Definitely not a laptop or PC replacement, but a well rounded entertainment device for my entire family to enjoy. With the abundance of apps, the kids use it for educational apps, watch movies on Netflix, and play games. My wife uses it to surf the Web, reference recipes, read ebooks and news, and use it for Facebook. I use it to play games, surf the web, check emails, and watch YouTube. It's a great device to bring on short vacation, especially when we are packing light.
Forgot to mention that while Adobe flash would be nice to have on the device, I hardly ever use it. If the Website is flash based, I just move on, if the site was that important to me, I would just go to my PC for it. Not a big deal.
It's one of those things that you would just kick back on the couch and use for simple task without the fuss of pulling out the laptop or going to your PC to use. Since I bought this device, I have cut down my use of my PC in half, which is great since I spend most of my work day on a PC.
Overall I love it! I wish it were in HD, but I'm satisfied for what it is now. I definitely got my money's worth on this device!

"I'm glad I waited for the 2nd Gen"
on by rob21iPros Size

Battery LifeCons CAMERA wow pretty horrible.
Summary I waited for the 2nd gen to come out and I'm glad I use this iPad all the time. I love how thin it is compared to other tablets and the build quality is awesome. The battery life last all day for me. The only thing I would want is a better camera to take pictures but I really don't do that often.

"An outstanding product"
on by ~XjoshX~Pros Fast processing, light and very intuitive.
Cons Really, there is nothing to mention here.
Summary This product is not for everyone. This must be said; however, if one has a use for an on-the-go, ultra light, mobile device that is internet enabled - I highly recommend the iPad 2.
