"I really want to give it a full 5 Stars !!!!" on by hawknj
Pros: Display is great
Build Quality perfect
Wifi speed very fast
Portability always with me
Wow factor Everyone looks in amazement
Battery life amazingCons: Slow syncing
Not all Iphone / ipod touch function included
A little slippery to hold
App Cost a bit too highSummary: I researched and researched and then did more research. I was looking at the Nook, and the Entourage Edge but I eneded up buying an Ipad 32gig . I do not own any iphone or a touch or a mac. I got it because I wanted to read books and have something that I could web search on and all I can say is it fills the job and then some. THe browers is very fast and I am only using it on G not N. The screen to crystal clear reading a book with the back light is no eye sore at all. I only read a few chapters at a time. It has replaced my laptop and my netbook and almost my desk top (yes I have all of them and a few UMPC also) it also replaced my Archos 7. This is a very useful device and I have already had offers from people to buy it off of me.
Let's talk apps--
The ABC tv app is what Hulu should be I have watched many shows on it while doing the dishes and other task around the house.
Nova first person shooter you have to get it. What a game the graphics are great the game play is perfect.
Goodreader The best PDF reader for the unit easy to use and great looking.
Ibooks could use more books to slect from I like Dean Kontz and can not find any of his books. I also read Patrica Cornwell and her books are there and very good reader.
I could go on and on about the Apps you have to be careful you do not over spend on the App store.
There are a few over priced app things like time magazine $4.99 an issue some games as high as $15.00 EA needs to rethink their priceing.
Why no full 5th star well Apple cheated a little here. I am big into music video's and on my touch it took a OS upgrade to get video playlist going. Well it is now there on the touch and the iphone and has been since the first OS upgrade. But guess what it is missing on the ipad no video playlist why? Why no ability to geo tag pics you sysnc with it you already have google maps on the system? There is a mic but why no voice control it is on the touch and Iphone these are thing Apple will add and say hey look we upgraded you. When all they are really doing it giving functions that are already in the OS bad Apple.
So over all I am very very happy and I am not an Apple fanboy by no means but I will say because of how good it is I am thinking about getting an Iphone on my next phone upgrade. -
"Not a device of choice" on by salmanzk
Pros: I like its look and display
Cons: it has no usb port ,camera and flash support
Summary: This device can't replace my ipaq, so no need of wasting money on the same available features just for a large screen. I will wait for HP Slate which has all the features to replace a laptop

"The best device ever!!" on by flejam
Pros: GUI is incredibly!!! The OS is really for novice computer users.
Performance, Looks, ConstructionCons: No native print driver. Finger Prints. Could use a finger print scanner for enterprise use.
Summary: I love the I pad. Based on = what it is. Nothing more or less. This is a receiving device. not a input device. People who complain about usb, camera or video camera. Could you really imagine holding up Ipad or hp slate to take video. You would look like a doosh and no to mention your arms would hurt after five mintues. Also to include an onboard usb and camera would add to power consumption and thickness. I do not want something to replace my laptop. I want something that makes my life easier how I interact with the internet. Thanks Apple. Ohh!! and by way the HP slate will suck running a full Win7 os. Wow! If windows was building a complete new os for it. I would say that would be great. But there not. So for all those people who want a old behind, needs to replaced flash, and a big doosh looking thing. Thats slow as molasses and can get win virus on top of that. Not to mention buggy. A usb means drivers. Which means slow and also no 3g. The hp slate will do a short and very much needed death!!!!

"Understand it's purpose!" on by iLap
Pros: quick access to internet
fun games at great screen size
battery life
movie player at the palms of your hands (travel)
maps view in larger screen
stand by mode which makes it a quick access
variety of apps, (and apps to come)
iBookCons: no usb port (memory) which is why I got it with more space
price
(I'm sure there are more cons also, I just can't finger any more at this time)Summary: The iPad is not really a necessity but a luxury. It will not really replace my desktop or laptop computer, but I like the ease of being able to browse the internet for quick references without having to boot up my computer for just a couple minute use. I knew what I would use it for so it's what made it easy to like it right out of the box. I know what it's capable of doing which is why I am not complaining of what it can't do. They have them on display at Apple stores so you can determine ur particular purpose for it.

"Good for what it's meant for." on by mdl53711
Pros: 1GHz CPU, iPhone Application support, redesigned Mail application, Gorgeous screen, Incredibly thin.
Cons: Heavier than one would think, iPhone App upscaling isn't always the best, NO FLASH SUPPORT, Wi-Fi problems with first shipments (mine included)
Summary: Some have called the iPad a "Faustian Deal with the Devil", and they may be right - you're sacrificing openness and the freedom to choose what you want to do with the system for something that is amazingly, perfectly good at what it's meant for. It's not meant for video chats, multitasking or as a replacement for a full desktop system. It's meant to be a portable media device, for web browsing, music listening and video watching. It may not be as open as Android, but Android is nowhere near as slick and easy to use as this device is. It is not meant to be a "Jack of All Trades" as a computer is, but it is a master at those things it can do.
-- As to multitasking, while it was not available when the CNet review was written, it was announced for iPhone OS 4, and I can attest to how well it works.
