"Outstanding product for teachers"4.5 starson by Autonomousone
Pros: It is a perfect fit in the hands. It is very fast. It keeps the connection to wifi at work and home. PowerTeacher works great on it. The video recording quality and picture quality are better than I expected. The screen is outstanding.
Cons: I have been trying to find some cons since Friday. I just can't find any yet. The one thing I miss about my Note 10.1 is the dual screen. I used the dual screen function all the time. I wish that Apple would update and let us have true multi-tasking.
Summary: The apps that are available with the Ipad Air are the clear reason to own an Ipad over all the other tablet devices. It is disappointing to me that Samsung tablets have such limitations with apps like Amazon Instant Videos and Power Schools.
This Ipad Air is faster than my Ipad 4 and the weight makes a big difference to me at work while walking around my classroom. The wifi worked much better too. The Ipad 4 I used at work lost connection to the school wifi network quite often. This device was perfect on Friday. I hope that this will be the case in the future.
I thought about the Ipad Mini Retina, but when holding the Air in portrait mode it is a perfect fit for me. I have larger than average hands, but I think most people will be surprised by how nice it feels in portrait mode. It also doesn't press into your hands like the Ipad 2 and Ipad 4 because of the edges.
Personal use at home has been outstanding. Next Issue magazines downloaded much faster than my other Ipads and my Note 10.1. Zite, Flipboard, Currents, AP, Google+ and all the other apps I use on a regular basis worked much faster and made smoother transitions. Netflix, Uverse, HBOGO, ShoAnytime, all the different media sites I use worked flawlessly. Audible and Kindle worked great too. Amazon Prime Instant Video was perfect. I also love how Rhapsody has updated for this device.
I loved using Garage Band, Imovie, iphoto and Iworks. I have never used them before so I can't compare them to any previous device. I did not know you had to buy extra features on Garage Band. That was not a big deal to me. The fact that they were free was very cool and I will be using pages and keynote for sure.
I bought a Zagg keyboard case on Saturday and have used it quite a bit. I have been using it to write this review and I honestly don't know why I am writing so much, but I think it has something to do with how much I like typing on this keyboard. As soon as I turned on bluetooth it picked up this keyboard case and every key on it works with my Ipad Air. I absolutely love the combo for getting things done. It has these two little slots where the speakers are in order to redirect the sound towards me. The sound is amazing on this Ipad Air. There is a very big difference between the speakers on this and the Ipad 4.
I am very pleased with my new Ipad Air. I hope to use this tablet for a few years. I can't think of anything that I would like for it to do better. It does what I need it to do. I have an HP Revolve that my school district gave us and I hate it. It collects dust. I had the Note 10.1 for a year and loved it but the apps limited my use of it at work so I ended up using a family members Ipad 2 for a while. I decided to buy an Ipad 4 and then took it back because it didn't seem that much better than the Ipad 2. The Ipad Air does everything I need and does it effortlessly. It makes my life easier. I highly recommend this device as the all around best device to purchase if you work in a district that uses PowerTeacher.
