Pros: very few; nice design?
Cons: completely unstable, WIFI problems
Summary: The device has a nice design but is completely unstable. it locks up almost every few minutes and looses WIFI signal . After it lost the WIFI signal it wont simply reconnect. After you go to the WIFI menu to reconnect to a WIFI network, the actual WIFI settings menu freezes and crashes. Basically the device is impossible to use. I checked and I am using the latest Firmware update.

Pros: I'm a gadget nut and like these small handy video/WiFi units. This one is very attractive and, when it works, suits my needs for portability.
Cons: Loss of WiFi signal, videos lose sound, cannot always restart from pause, tech support VERY difficult to reach, costly plugins & accessories required. Leg swings loose. A bit too bulky & heavy for a portable.
Summary: Bottom line - if you like dealing with tech support, not often able to reach, you have the time and the patience (and money) to get the Archos as you want it, go for it. I would suggest however, unless you need a lot of memory, get the lighter slimmer 32GB model for day to day use and store your digitalized videos on a small portable drive. On extended trips you can always take the portable drive with you.

Pros: 500 GB storage, ability to play multiple file types
Cons: 1. Video playback is choppy even with the extra HD plugin
2. Android apps constantly run battery down
3. 256 MB limit to Android apps
4. Size is not good for traveling in a pocket
5. Touch controls are sluggish in comparison to an iPod TouchSummary: Got this for Amazon Unbox and Windows Media files along with avi files but just doesn't work well especially for $400.

Pros: Larger screen than iPod, but resistive rather than capacitive, so not even good. Large capacity, but the available was much less than 500 GB as advertized.
Cons: I just bought this Archos 500 GB yesterday. It didn't play movies in Hulu. It didn't play Youtube videos either. I could only set up my email account using gmail. It didn't connect well with the internet like Amazon website. Appslib was not installed
Summary: At $350 dollars, I bought nothing that is even close to what I should have enjoyed by buying another product. Perhaps this is a great product for some, but really there are a very things that you can do with it. This really fell so short of my earnest expectations.
