Summary The skinny.... this was a first time purchase for me. I'd never run across anything like it before and it seemed to be an answer to my itouch envy. I was pulled in by a seemingly similar amount of options but with a larger screen (bonus!) and a bit of, what seemed to be, a savings.
I'm the first to admit I'm not a patient person but it doesn't seem right that out of the box you're required to download an app to be able to download apps. Shouldn't basic functions (what it was designed for) be available? As a newbie I didn't know what to expect and it didn't help me at all. The "Getting started" info consisted of "Charge completely before powering up" and unfortunately I needed a little more info. I've worked around computers consistantly for 25 years and this interface, or lack-thereof, threw me for a loop.
The touch screen is flaky at best, your touch has to be "just right" or nothing happens... and the scroll option seems to be nearly non-existant... either it doesn't move or it reluctantly moves and when you lift your finger it opens what you were touching. Very annoying! We did have some issues connecting to our wi-fi... it didn't like much.
It all boils down to the fact that I'm not patient enough to fight the learning curve and the interface ... for the few hours I did work with it left me very frustrated. After less than 24 hours after purchase I had my husband hit the reset button and we returned it. I honestly didn't inted to replace it but my hubby ran across the Cruze Reader and said... let's try it. I will say that right out of the box and in less than 3 hours I've already accomplished a lot that I couldn't even find to be able to get done with the Archos 7 and the interface is so much easier. I'm almost giddy with excitement about what I'm going to be able to do with it.
Pros A perfect tablet
Cons None so far
Summary I have been wanting a tablet that can handle all that a deskbound operation will need. It clearly meets expectations and at a fair price.
