Pros It's older brother, the Nook Color, has made a fantastic tablet for me with an Android card in it. The tablet will just give me more speed and smoother video playback.
Cons I just wish the battery were longer, like the iPad.
Summary When I want to take photos, I use a real camera. The Nook Color and Nook Tablet make great devices at a very reasonable price.
"Very nice!"on by BenjaminSA
Pros Very fast, magazines look great, very responsive, no lag, books look great. NetFlix is GREAT. Micro SD Card slot expanision is a big plus.
Cons The sound seems better, but I wish it was louder.
Summary I look up lots of reviews on CNET Kindle Fire vs Nook Tablet. I have a Nook color and I pre-ordered the Fire based on the price. When Nook Tablet was launched, I thought about the Fire limitations and canceled that order.
The Nook Tablet is just amazing. I was really amazed at how responsive NetFlix is, the colors on the screen look great! I really like this device for what it has on it today and the potential of what it can be with software updates. It works great as an e-reader, so smooth, and comics look like they were made for it. Browsing is fast too, I really like the improvement in the processor and memory it really does show.
Pros Quick, smooth action. Sensitive to touch. Brilliant screen. Relatively lightweight and comfortable to hold.
Cons B&N app store is pathetic and shows little sign of improving much in the future. Apps overpriced. Locked bootloader. Essentially a closed eco-system.
Summary Ability to sideload apps had made this tablet interesting. But with the 1.4.1 update that has ended. The folks at XDA are working on an easy, effective way to block updates but then what's the point? The work around now before updating to 1.4.1 is to keep your wi-fi turned off except for brief periods when adding apps. But many of my apps, such as news apps, news reader, etc., require syncing over wi-fi and this just defeats to purpose in having a tablet. The upshot is that I'm returning my Nook Tablet this week while I still can and I'm going to get a "real" tablet like a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus.
Pros Lots of storage
Fast for browsing and app loads
Can install Amazon app store for lots more apps
SD slot allows you to easily get another 32GB of space for cheap
Cons No Android Market app yet (yet -- Amazon app store works so Android market should be possible soon)
Pros Very fast
SD card slot
Cons Speakers aren't very loud
Summary This is the tablet I was waiting for. At $250 it's a steal. So much more than just a reader it has the refinement and responsiveness of an iPad without Apple's locked-down approach to everything. This is no-doubt the best value in tablets right now.
