Pros It looks nice. I like the idea.
Cons Performance is aweful. My phone does better. Tablet frequently pauses for long periods of time. Tablet sometimes freezes completely. The battery drains overnight with no use. The keyboard functions only intermittently. Sometimes we can't log it.
Summary I purchased a Venue 11 Pro for my wife along with the portable keyboard and a docking station. I wanted her to be able to have a portable tablet for email, simple games, and e-reading that could also function as computer for word documents, powerpoint, etc. The Venue sounded like a good choice. But we have had the freezing problems discussed here
It is so frequent it makes the tablet unusuable. Sometimes it pauses, with the machine clearly operable but with the application or photo or whatever taking 30 seconds or longer to load. My criteria is that it should work as well as my phone and it doesn't come close. Other times it freezes completely. The battery drains overnight. They keyboard does not always function. We are not always able to log in even. First I thought it was us not being familiar with Windows 8 and my wife not being technical. Then I worked with Dell support and did a Reset (wiped it clean). No luck. Then I asked for a refund - too late. Then I asked for a replacement - too late. Then I asked for a repair - no spare parts so they won't even try it. No chance I will ever buy a Dell product again.
Pros *The screen is very nice
*Like the Microsoft Office capabilities
Cons *AWEFUL quality
*EVEN WORSE Customer Support
Summary I ordered the Dell Venue 11 Pro on Black Friday in November. I was told that the tablet was in production and would be delivered on January 6th, 2014.
After receiving 2 notices that my order was once again delayed, I received my tablet on 1/23/2014.
Upon opening the box, I realized that the volume rocker on the outside of the tablet was not working... it would lower the volume, but was unable to increase the volume.
I immediately contacted Dell the inform them of my issue. Dell told me that I would have another tablet delivered to my door in 7-10 days.
After 3 more messages stating that my order was delayed, I decided to contact Dell directly. I spoke with a representative that told me his system was stating that my replacement tablet was scheduled to be shipped in March! I asked to be transferred to a supervisor to remedy the situation. After threatening to cancel my order with Dell, the supervisor assured me he would expedite my order.
Miraculously 2 days later I had my 2nd Venue 11 Pro tablet in hand! Unfortunately, this tablet had an issue with the battery. It took over 24 hours to receive a full charge. I contacted Dell Customer Service once again. (After being hung up on 3 times) I finally got a service tech to walk me through the steps to remedy the problem. During this time, he took remote control of my tablet and downloaded multiple new drivers and directories from the Dell website. While downloading the new BIOS, the tablet CRASHED and I lost all my documents located on the tablet. The DELL representative told me how to restart the tablet and wished me good luck re-downloading the new drivers.
Still did not work... Called back Customer Support. This new tech was worthless. He actually asked me to "unplug the MicroUSB charging plug, turn it over, and re-insert it"... I had to explain to him that it was physically impossible to the MicroUSB upside down without damaging the port (I think this was the intent).
Long story short... I was told that DELL would send me a 3RD Venue 11 Pro tablet. I figured I would give them 1 more chance because I really wanted to like the device.
Yesterday, I just received my 3RD Venue 11 Pro from Dell. OH WAIT... I JUST RECEIVED A VENUE 8 PRO from Dell!
I contacted them and they told me that they decided to send me an 8 instead of an 11 because I was having problems with it. After being hung up on 3 more times, I had finally decided to return tablet to Dell for a refund.
However, Dell did not want to initially do a refund because my ORIGINAL order was more than 30 days ago. I had to explain to them that I had to wait SEVERAL weeks for my 1st replacement and had to wait again for the 2nd replacement.
Dell FINALLY agreed to refund my money (in 30-45 days).
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STEER CLEAR OF DELL AND THE VENUE 11 PRO!
Pros Great concept. Lightweight and versatile (too bad it doesn't actually work)
Cons The device doesn't work. It's full of bugs, and good luck with the customer service. They do TRY to be helpful, but unfortunately you're dealing with people you can barely understand due to thick accents. And it's impossible to escalate the claim.
Summary Dell rushed this faulty product out the door to compete with the Microsoft Surface, and didn't do all the proper testing (this was verified by a customer service person). Steer clear of this mess.
Pros screen looks nice and that's it.
Cons The touchscreen is not terrible if you order the hard case keyboard (additional $150) but without the keyboard its horrible!!!
Pros Who Knows....have not been able to use since a week after delivery
Cons Customer service is abysmal. Products are inferior.
Summary A month and no resolution from Dell, even with BBB involved. Now on a 10 day 'parts on backorder' mode. Interesting that I have not read of an idling of Dell's assembly line due to NO PARTS!!!
