"Not sure I understand the complaints"
on by UTPSE81Pros Android
Screen Resolution
Camera quality
Flash capable
Facebook app (HELLO iPad 2... it's only one of the MOST POPULAR social networking tools around)
Freedom to customizeCons No Netflix/Hulu Plus at the moment... I had to think of something negative
Summary I have had the opportunity to work with both the Galaxy 10.1 and iPad 2. Let me begin by saying this... I have a MacBook Pro, have owned an iPhone 3GS, and currently have a Samsung Fascinate. Therefore I have experience with both companies products and OS's. I absolutely LOVE Android over iOS. Why Apple feels the need to be so restrictive with customization in iOS is beyond me. And no Flash?? Yes, Steve Jobs hates Flash. Yet you allow Mac computer owners the ability to use Flash, so why not on your tablets/cell phones? With as much money as these tablets are, I completely believe the user should have the choice. You don't have to install Flash if you don't want it, but for God's sake, at least give the user the option.
All that said, I find these products both excellent in their own ways (I mean honestly, it only makes sense to compare the Galaxy 10.1 and iPad 2 as they are the best in their respective categories IMO at the moment). Apple lacks in screen resolution, ability to customize the iOS, and no Facebook?? Seriously?? iOS 5 is not looking any more customizable than iOS 4. Widgets... I personally love them. Again, Android only. People have to realize that yes, iOS may be more reliable to an extent, but Honeycomb will come around as it ages, just like any OS. Windows 7 needs updates; iOS needs updates; Android OS's need updates. Welcome to life people. How have you not learned by now that all OS's take time to work bugs out even after they are released?
As far a performance goes, are we honestly going to complain about minute differences? "Well, the iPad 2 can load a picture to Facebook 5 seconds faster!" Really, 5 seconds!?!?! Realize that the quality of the picture from the Galaxy is higher quality (3MP rear and 2MP front) than the iPad 2 (1MP rear, 0.3MP front... 0.3MP front, really???), in turn making it larger, in turn making it take a WHOPPING 5 seconds longer to upload. Come on people.
Ports... why people have such a burning desire for USB, HDMI, etc., is beyond me. My MacBook Pro doesn't even connect to HDMI or VGA/DVI without having to have an adapter. You want ports, then be willing to accept larger, heavier tablets. I mean, it's like people think the world will end if they have to take 3 seconds to attach an adapter to connect a USB drive. Maybe I just lead a slow life and can afford to take 3 seconds of time to add an adapter if I must really use a USB drive. Or, you could welcome yourselves to the age of the Internet/WiFi and use things like cloud drives and VPN's, or Bluetooth... then you can get that precious file you need from your USB drive without needing your USB drive because you can pull it off your cloud drive or your computer. Bottom line is that these are tablets, NOT computers, NOT laptops, NOT even netbooks. You want USB without an adapter, then tote around you laptop/netbook. But try holding that while walking around, I dare you!
I have enjoyed both the iPad 2 and the Galaxy, and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. When it comes to computers, I will never go back to a PC. Mac wins that battle, no question, for me. But when it comes to a tablet, I must admit that I have to give my edge to the Galaxy. Android OS's to me just offer that freedom that you don't get from iOS. The screen resolution is better. It's lighter. It has higher quality cameras. I am not going to lose sleep if a few tasks are a tiny fraction (and it literally is a tiny fraction) slower than the iPad 2. Yes, there are more apps for iPad 2. But for me, there isn't an app I have NEEDED that I can't get from the Android Market. Netflix would be nice, but again, I don't NEED it. And it will come, of that I am quite certain. It seems most reviews are not of the hardware, but of the OS's. The fact is both tablets are amazing in design and harware. It is simply a matter of which OS you prefer. For me, that's Android. Oh, and as for the "plastic back" of the Galaxy... trust me, it's not an issue. I have a plastic back on my phone, and there isn't a scratch on it or crack in it, and I have had it for over a year now. It's completely fine. -
"The best Android Tablet out there... For now..."
on by king_of_the_hunsPros Sleek, light, fairly fast, gorgeous screen, amazing battery life.
Cons Honeycomb 3.0.1 is still a bit buggy, there are several force-closures in the facebook app, gmail and maps.
Summary This is the first tablet where I can read my .pdf magazines without either waiting for the page turns 10+ seconds or straining my eyes. Honeycomb's homescreen organization makes it possible to organize all the info I really care about in a glance; on one screen I have my mail/news previews, on the other facebook and linked-in while on others the programs I use most often. The screen is amazingly clear and bright even out on the sun. The built-in light sensor adjusts the screen brightness really well. The onscreen keyboard is big enough to enable typing without making mistakes and is very, very responsive. I actually type on it ( 10 finger ) almost as fast as on a real keyboard. What I was really amazed about is the battery life. A full charge lasts at least 5 days with about 3~4 hours of active use per day, which includes 24/7 wifi connectivity and a bit of angry-birds here and there...

"I had both..Definitely better than the IPaD2!!!"
on by JimJ777Pros Cameras, Google talk for free, better screen, better functional Apps, being the build is similar to the ipad2 there is really no need to mention build, I can hold it. Speakers are great, Custom desktop to tailor to fit my way,
Cons So far no complaints that I didn't have with the Ipad, no usb or other upgrade ports, no removable battery
Summary If you rate the Ipad2 over this than you are truly mistaken. First of all the build quality besides plastic and metal back( talking about picky, I actually am happy Samsung is doing something with the unused plastic that's not biodegradable!), How about Cameras? Thinking of taking a night video or picture? You can't with Ipad2. Want to put your family picture or your girl or boyfriend on your desktop? Can't with the Ipad2. Switch between programs without leaving another? Can't with well you know..Screen display( for your Iphone 4 users..lol..) Yeah no retina here and if so still doesn't work in daylight. How much is the Galaxy compared to Ipad2? Yeah don't think so..I don't know what speed tests these chucklenuts are doing but my Galaxy is way faster the my Ipad2..Faster charging time..Give me a head to head with real everyday life stuff and I KNOW the Galaxy will outperform the Ipad2 hands down..not this BS review.. So if you are one of those type of people that just need to spend 800 dollars because it says the name then please do so but don't try to convince me it's better because you lying to yourself and others..Keep your assumptions to yourself!

"Yay Samsung did it!!!!"
on by wuzupcnetPros This product is amazing in all it's features; it outkilled the xoom because of the camera, design and weight.
Cons The only thing that I don't like is that it may be very expensive ( maybe even more than the xoom.
Summary I think that if Samsung decides to launch this product with a low prize i will be willing to accept a two year contract. And for the people that don't get this, THE SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 10.1 IS GOING TO HAVE 4G AVIABILITY.

"Cool design - but no USB ports?!"
on by jbx1Pros Light and thin.
Cons No USB ports!
No HDMI Port!Summary So, one doesn't buy an iPad because its closed, its proprietary... its Apple. One goes for Android because its open and it allows you to do stuff... and what? the new tablets don't have inbuilt USB ports? The whole point of a tablet is to make it portable and usable wherever you are, and you can't slide in a USB pen drive to read a document quickly. They will tell you you need to carry a keyboard dock, so then whats the point of a tablet vs a netbook?
I can't understand this new trend of removing features instead of adding or at least keeping them in (Yes I am also referring to you Asus, with that nice cool Eee Pad Transformer with a perfect screen BUT also without USB!). Do the product managers live on another planet or what?
