Pros Very responsive when downloading, installing & opening apps. Battery life is decent under normal usage, screen looks great, access to the entire Play store, TV SideView & the IR blaster & it is water/dust proof - which for me is a necessity.
Cons The speakers aren't great, they're barely good.
Summary The speakers are limited in reproducing any of the sounds from the low end of the spectrum simply because it is sooo thin - it is better with headphones, but only slightly; the new Kindle Fire HD, which I also have, has the best speakers I've ever heard on a tablet.
One thing I've found is that no one makes one table that meets all needs - you'd need the speakers from the Kindle Fire HD, the retina screen from the iPad (or the Nexus 10's screen), ability to add memory to the device, and then your own personal preferences on OS, and other options. What I've compromised for sound in this tablet, I feel I've made up for in other areas.
Pros Expandable memory, Best display, smooth operation, light weight, very thin, water proof etc.
Cons Battery takes a while to charge, but this is no major issue.
Summary If you are looking for a good tablet with expandable memory, nice display and a decent processor look no further, Sony Experia Tablet Z is the answer. Its lightweight and water proof too.
Pros Very good look
SD card slot
Get the charging dock, very well made
Cons Sony launcher is slow, get another one on the app store
Ports hard to access cause of water seal
Summary I really love this tablet and I disagree with most negative points in the cnet review, almost look like the reviewer has a completely different model or is not honest.
Pros The user interface is clean with minimal alteration of the android environment. The display is sharp and the touch interface responsive. Connectivity has been excellent. The tablet is very thin, light, and attractive. Excellent build quality.
Cons None really. The price is somewhat high but largely justified by the tablet's versatility, performance, and excellent build quality.
Summary I have been using the Xperia-Z1 tablet almost daily since September 2013 now, and find it to be a very useful and enjoyable device. I even purchased another as a Christmas gift. This is probably one of my best purchase decisions in recent years, as it delivers all I could have wanted in a tablet.
The thin black slate aesthetic is very attractive, and the build quality is excellent. I use the built-in "walkman" app to stream music to my sound system and headphones. I also periodically use the built-in FM tuner application which works well in my location. The NFC capability speeds connection to my compatible devices and is convenient. The stable WiFi connectivity has also been enjoyable, as I often stream movies to the tablet. I find that I watch more movie content on the tablet now than on my TV. The display is very good offering good color balance and brightness. The speakers built into the tablet are useful but not meant for serious listening. I use my Bluetooth headphones and sound system for most audio applications for serious listening.
I find the android interface to be well implemented by Sony, offering a smooth and clean experience. Sony has upgraded the tablet to android version 4.3 so it is fairly current.
Given the refinements offered by the recently announced Xperia-Z2 version of the tablet, I would expect that performance will only improve. While I will certainly be tempted to purchase one later in the year, it is hard to imagine what extra usefulness I will realize, since I am very satisfied with my Xperia-Z1.
Those considering a new tablet should not be hesitant about purchasing the Sony Xperia-Z. Sony did a great job designing the 2013-Z1 device, and I expect that the improved specifications offered by the 2014-Z2 tablet will continue the high quality standards of design and fabrication.
Pros Better than my Ipad Retina (Ipad 4). Much slimmer, water proof - I can use in my shower. Cnet is a bias site for Apple and Samsung. Samsung pays them money - I'd be surprised if CNET even publishes my review.
Cons None. I don't believe any of the review cons from CNet.
Summary Don't believe the hype on Samsung and Apple products. I also have the Sony Xperia Z1 S phone from T-Mobile - awesome phone as well.
