"Get them quickly"on by crossbay33
Pros Works well, not as refined as IPAD but for ANDROID users not wanted to relearn this is the one
Cons still looking
Summary Where did they all go lucky I got mine before Staples took them away, try Sears.
Pros Screen, hardware, ease of customization.
Cons No standard market, flash not out yet but will be coming soon,
Summary I do not own one of these (yet) but I have done a lot of research. I know that most reviews say that this tablet is terrible out of the box and thats about it.
After 30 minutes playing with a display unit Im convinced to buy one. The stock overlay is BAD. So i googled and downloaded ADW launcher apk and installed it. Wow that was easy, no more terrible interface. How about games? I googled and downloaded angry birds apk. It works great. That was easy. I added some Widgets and made it look better (still working on a display unit).
Bottom line: Do some research, play with the device, if you dont like something, chances are you can change it. If you don't mind playing with the device and doing some research, this is a great alternative to an Ipad.
Oh and think im just some hacker and its not really easy? Wrong, ive never even owned an android device. Just a guy who can use google.
AND if you want, you can hack the device and get everything else (google aps, full market, etc) I dont even think its necessary.
Pros Hackable. Hardware buttons.
Cons Screen: viewing angle, resolution.
Installed software pretty bad - needs aftermarket ROMs to be really usable.
Summary As of July 2012:
Seeing it as a refurb now for about $150. I am not sure that it wouldn't be better to get the quad-core Google Nexus 7 for a few dollars more.
The screen viewing angle is bad, but if you can load CM7.2 on it, it is still a decent tablet - although I wouldn't pay much more than $100-125 for it.
Back in the day, it was a fun and cheap (relatively) way of getting my feet wet in Android, but now there are better options. Although I do like still having hard buttons on the side.
This is like a Soviet era design, big, fat, heavy and solid.
Pros BIG SCREEN GOOD QUALITY, not nearly as fast as my Galaxy but not slow either. You Tube works, and its just like the old android phones.
Cons Heavy, thick, OLD Operating System, this android is like the second one they ever made, super old and upgradding OS was not possible on the referbished models i purchased. NO NETFLIX, no gmail, no MARKET no GOOGLE PLAY yikes and you cant add them.
Summary Super dissapointment, only good if you buy brand new and know what you are doing or want to spend obout 24hrs learning how to ROOT an android, back it up, flash the drive, and expect crashes, dont buy it. I returned mine and purchased another brand that comes with Android 4.0 ICE CREAM SANDWICH and thats the latest and greatest right now, so really, look for the size you want, and make sure it has android 4.0 and buy it from a place offering a return policy because this is a new era and we are all pretty much testing these
Pros BEST TABLET FOR THE PRICE TAG. NVIDIA TEGRA2 DOES A GOOD JOB,CAN BE OVERCLOCKED TO 1.5 MHZ WITH CUSTOM ROMS
Cons NO SUPPORT FROM VIEWSONIC. NVIDIA HAS SAID IT WONT BE PROVIDING DRIVERS FOR GINGERBREAD OR HONEYCOMB UNLESS VIEWSONIC ASKS THEM TO AND VIEWSONIC SAYS ITS NVIDIA WHO SHOULD RELEASE THE DRIVER.SO IN SHORT,NO AFTER SALE SUPPORT FOR THIS DEVICE.
Summary STOCK OS SUCKS...RUNS AS GOOD AS OTHER TABLETS WHEN ROOTED AND FLASHED WITH CUSTOM ROM.
