AT&T ties Excite@Home into network services
AT&T said Wednesday that its Internet hosting services now will pack a more direct way to reach Excite@Home's cable Internet service customers. Companies that create Internet content, such as news, video and audio services and images, can use AT&T's high-speed Internet services to carry their products to Web consumers. Wednesday's deal allows these AT&T customers to serve content directly to Excite@Home's subscribers by establishing a direct link to the cable ISP's network. AT&T owns a 38 percent stake in Excite@Home and a 70 percent voting interest in the company.
