Ubisoft has released the official trailer for Assassin's Creed 4, although at the time of writing, the company still hasn't updated its own YouTube channel to host the video.

The trailer not only names the main character — Captain Edward Kenway, grandfather of Conner from Assassin's Creed 3 — but the Australian and New Zealand version of the video provides a 31 October release date at the end of the clip.

The game will be available on current-generation consoles — Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3 — but will also be out for PC and "next-generation consoles". The PS4 logo is prominent at the bottom of the screen, but it also suggests that Ubisoft has been designing the game for the next Xbox, as well.
