Lenovo updates budget PCs at CES
The Lenovo B50 and entry-level C-series all-in-one desktops have been updated with new hardware and features.
LAS VEGAS -- On the heels of a refresh to its ThinkPad line of laptops, Lenovo on Monday announced an update to its B50 and entry-level C-series all-in-one desktops at the International CES trade show.
Lenovo B50 with RealSense
The company's B50 all-in-one desktop will be soon be available with Intel's RealSense 3D camera. This will enable gesture-based interactions and allow users to scan 3D objects to their computer. It's one of several systems from different PC makers to add RealSense at CES.
The B50 also features a 23.8-inch full-HD touchscreen with Dolby sound from integrated JBL speakers and Nvidia GeForce graphics. The desktop can be configured with an Intel fourth-generation Core i7 processor, but not the latest fifth-gen Broadwell chips that other manufactures are adding to their PCs. The B50 with RealSense will be available later this month starting at $800. International pricing hasn't been announced, however the US price converts to about £520 in the UK and AU$990 in Australia.
Lenovo C50, C40, C20 desktops
Lenovo also announced the 23-inch C50, 21.5-inch C40 and 19.5-inch C20 all-in-one. All three desktops include Nvidia graphics, integrated stereo speakers and full-HD displays with optional touchscreens. The C20 has an LED screen, however, compared to the IPS screen on the C50 and C40. Also available with the touch options is a package of kids apps that include puzzles and educational games.
The C50 starts at $530, the C40 starts at $450 and the C20 at $350. All three desktops will be available later this month in the US. We are still waiting for international pricing and availability announced, but the C50 price converts to around £345 and AU$655, the C40 to £295 and AU$555, and the C20 to about £230 and AU$430.
Lenovo S41 Ultrabook
Lenovo is also launching the 14-inch S41 Ultrabook, known internationally as the U41. The laptop weighs less than four pounds and measures 19.5 millimeters thick. The S41 features a Full HD 1,920x1,080 resolution display and can be configured with a fifth-gen Intel Core i7 processor, discrete Nvidia GeForce graphics card, and either a 1TB hard drive or 256GB solid state drive.
The S41 will be available in June, with a starting price of $800. International pricing wasn't available, but the US price converts to £525 and AU$990.
