Despite yesterday's news of lay-offs, Valve seems to be full steam ahead with the release of the Steam for Linux client.
The client is a free download from the Ubuntu Software Store — it currently being the most popular distribution of Linux.
The obligatory Steam sale has also commenced, with 50 different Linux titles selling for 50-75 per cent off.
Valve head Gabe Newell has previously said that Steam for Linux — and getting Big Picture to work on the platform — were key steps for the success of the long awaited Steam Box, bringing PC gaming to the lounge room and taking on the console market.
